Not youngsters. But my wife and I were going to see him in Cork several weeks ago, before the concert was cancelled due to Covid.

One of his cuts is on the Mister Roger's movie with Tom Hanks. Hollywood has found forgiveness.

Enjoy him from his original days. Peace Train, oh Very Young, Wild World. That folky style has disappeared. Very 60s and 70s.

I’ve been a big fan since the beginning. Love just about everything he’s done.

Always liked him. He has a very nice and pleasing voice. I still have an album or two of his in the pile.

Under 30 and love his stuff. Have early edition pressings of all his original albums (vinyl). "Tea for the Tillerman" and "Teaser and the Firecat" are both go-to records I listen to a lot. Cliche pick but "Father and Son" will probably always be my favorite track of his.

I'm old ("but I'm happy" ...) and a lifelong Fan.
Have all the Albums including several as Yusaf. I thought his albums as 'Cat' were all fabulous but the later ones as Yusaf just didn't have anything to recommend them. I felt he was one of those artists who had "shot his load" and the later albums were mediocre and self-indulgent. I have heard him say that he now realises that he didn't need to give up his music for his religion after all. In spite of that he remains one of my very favourite artists.

I've always enjoyed his songs from the early years but I'm old. I wasn't even aware he came out with songs under Yusaf. Always thought he just kind of disappeared (religion) and thought that it was a shame. However his output was pretty amazing for the very short period and no matter who it is that can be pretty hard to sustain over the course of time. Not many can and even then most reach a point eventually where the new stuff just isn't up to that same high standard or the output just isn't as plentiful. Generally peoples creativity and energy tends to wane over the years for a number of reasons.

I had an opportunity to see him in Brooklyn Barclays center about 10 years ago when he was inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame.
It was an amazing and rare experience, prior to the event he hadn’t been allowed in the country For many years after some questionable financial ties. His performance was as if he hadn’t aged a day since he topped the charts.

There are only a few artists who have "loving voices" and I always thought he was one of them. John Sebastian was another and perhaps John Denver.
Their voices have a very nurturing sound to them and when you add in beautiful lyrics they are magic.

That's an interesting perspective, never heard that before. I've always had his best hits in many forms from LP, cassette, to CD. Never curious enough to get the individual albums but have thought about it a few times over the years.

What an interesting observation. I think you are right. Some singers have something special that they communicate in their music that is more than just words and melody. I agree that Cat was one of those and John Denver did convey that sense of peace and joy in his music. Not familiar with John Sebastian.
As a young guy I spent a few weeks in hospital in a country town. A guy in the next ward would play the "Teaser and the Firecat" album first thing every morning (nobody objected) and I found it very 'restorative'.

Awesome singer/songwriter. Bought many Cat Stevens albums back in the day. As others have said, he has a soothing, warm voice. Great talent.
