I think so. Initially I thought they might be a bit to sleek for me, but once I tried a few I found they actually were a good fit for me and I have a medium width size foot.

They are, and frankly I find their Lasts much more attractive than AE or Alden.

I own stuff that is styleforum-approved and also stuff that they'd scoff at, but it's our money at end of the day

Which is why we should go easy on Hublot wearers and not fall into snobbishness or nerdiness about things

But there are a good number of other options within this price range. So you don't necessary have to go with AE or LV and I would never recommend LV which is more look than substance. In that same range I would recommend looking at Carmina or Enzo Bonafe. Alfred Sargent would be another that I would recommend but their selection is fairly limited. Alden is certainly an option but their Lasts tend to be blobby looking as well. There are others but as far as price and what appeals to me those are the ones that come to mind. Churches is another quality option but you"ll want to stick to the classic line and not the Prada inspired crap.

I find Euro brand lasts more attractive than US brands in general. Carmina is good in that they have a wide variety of lasts plus a MTO program so I would be surprised if there is someone who can not fit into anything of theirs.

From a quality standpoint, i'd put them on par with Aldens. Tbh Aldens are overpriced. They do have a few areas where they excel and i have a few pairs but i dont think i would be buying any more in the future unless a cigar or ravello shell comes up in my size for a loafer/chukka.

Actually they were even a much better deal not but a few years ago when they even cost less because I always thought their quality was on par with if not a little better than Alden. If I remember correctly their cost not long ago was more comparable to what AE cost.

Unfortunately AE and Alden are more known and easier to find in the US. Footwear that you cannot try on prior to purchasing is always risky, however using Styleforum and since I have a medium width foot I found that I was able to make it work. However this is not always the case for everybody.

Price wise you can say that about every brand though, no?
Alden has been raising prices 10-20 dollars every year for like the past decade
I discovered carmina when they were around mid 300s. EG & Vas’s was slightly cheaper at that point also.

Carmina’s expanded their presence a lot since then and I believe you can return to NY store instead of shipping directly back to Spain which offsets returns/exchanges a bit.

Well yes all prices have increased but the point I was trying to make was initially their prices were more on par at the lower tier range and closer to what a pair of AEs would cost you. The last I looked their price point had moved significantly enough to where their cost were not as comparable with the average price of a pair of AEs but significantly higher.

Although they still are more available than they once were they are still nowhere as widely available or as known as AE or Alden in the States. Even if you know about them they are still not as easy to try on as something from the other two brands in the States. It's unfortunate but if they were I would think you would hear more about them.

Tommy Bahama embroidered camp shirts. Otherwise off the rack Tanger Mall stuff. I don't own a suit. I hate them and won't wear them. Sports Coat and tie and Dockers good enough. Everyday wear is Cargo Dockers or Cargo shorts. ( Function over form type of guy) Joe USA T shirts are my favorite underwear.

I checked the staple AE models (park ave, fifth ave, strand) and prices listed on their site is 425 which just a touch lower than the carmina 450.

I agree they are still not as well known. I noticed a lot of retailers dropped them since they’ve opened their online store to the masses since the store exclusives were not as exclusive anymore.

Ok, it appears that AE’s price point has now caught up to Carmina again. Like I said it’s been awhile since I last looked. Personally between the two all things being the same as I last bought a pair I would chose Carmine over AE every day of the week and for the most part over Alden as well.

AE of course is known for having their sales but I still would opt for Carmina at the higher price.

I have Alden Indy Boots CXL since 2012 and, honestly, wouldn't buy an another pair for the currrent price. Heavy, wrinkled leather on the left shoe, soles wear out too fast..
I love my Blundstone 500 more))
My other favorite shoes brands:
Santoni
Diemme
Premiata
Ferragamo

Although it can be addressed I don't like the Alden Indy free floating tongue. As a leather CXL can really be a great option however a number of shoemakers use less than ideal leather from places on the cow where the skin is looser hence the wrinkles. Regardless there are numerous options where that style of boot can be purchased for both less than and more than what the Indy costs. Red Wing, Whites, Thurman, Oakstreet Bootmakers, Rancourt, and Viberg are but a few. Some will offer their boots in CXL and others have more than just one leather type. Personally I own CXL shoes and boots from more than just one shoemaker and find it a very durable and nice looking utility type leather.

Have become a huge fan of C&J after getting advice in the shoe thread.

They are miles above anything from the fashion brands at the same price point.

Very nice as well. You really can’t beat a good fitting shoe from a shoemaker that makes a good quality shoe. When my feet are happy then so am I.
