Auto Insurance refund check = joke

I im 63 drive less than 8k miles a year.....more like 6500 the past year....have a 2018 Dodge Durango V-6 with just under 12k miles.
I get a letter from Allstate stating due to my driving record....no tickets ever...well ive had many and always lawyered up and got out of them someway. Plus Ive never had a car accident since ive been driving way back in 72.
I was thinking wow maybe I will get back 75-100 bucks.....noooooo
All that hype for 11.23...im like this is a joke right....I called my agent and said i dont drive much before the virus now I drive maybe 250 miles a month.
Yes sir, I understand.....he told me but this is the max refund you can get....
what a joke....Ive been calling all morn looking for new homeowners and auto ins....and yep.....goodbye Allstate!

State Farm gave me a $3 credit on my bill. I was insulted.

Our auto insurer came up short, too, we drove 300 miles in March to mid June. Our umbrella insurer is refunding zero. Buy stock in Allstate, Progressive, etc. They will have few claims in quarter 2.

What really were you expecting?

When you go on vacation and fly somewhere for a month, they don't refund your month because your car sat at home.

It was a marketing stunt.

If they have a million customers and they gave everyone $10 . That's a chunk of change. ( I can't do the math in my head).

Being realistic....I thought 50-75 bucks....since ive used them several years and never had a claim....11 dollars wow.....maybe I will go to a movie by myself. The letter they sent was very misleading .....it made it sound like it would be a huge refund in the covid19 crisis.

I think mine was a bill reduction of $7 or something.

It reminded me of the class action lawsuits where some big corporation was sued and lost.

Everyone that was screwed got $6.22

Well now I feel better. Justice was done. HaHa

I have received around $25 back for each of the last three months, better than a sharp stick in the eye. They didn’t have to give us anything.

I think most of the rebates are supposed to be a % of your premium. My premium is low so my rebate was in the same range from what I remember but I didn't pay much attention. It was 15-20% for a couple months or something like that.

I had a discussion about my collision coverage with my carrier and said my 2016 car is now 4 years old and about half the value, how come my collision coverage didn't decrease. I was told "sir, it doesn't work that way" I laughed.

I’m more perturbed they’re touting all over radio and tv that they’ve saved so much money and they’re giving it back to make themselves look good. Yet anything less than at least $100 rebate is ridiculous to me. I pay an exorbitant amount of money on insurance and fingers crossed haven’t had a single claim. Insurance companies screw you coming and going. Just another one without even dinner being purchased.

Greg, Believe it or not, you have it made out there. I only drive 4K miles a year with zero wrecks or tickets in 10 years and in the worst state for Auto insurance in the country. Highest premiums no matter what

I also have USAA, am generally pleased with them, but... I own a 95 Corvette with 48,000 miles, do the math. That is roughly 1,900 miles a year, 160 miles a month, 40 miles a week, five miles a day- well, you get the idea. Anyway I too received a refund check.

$9.00

Woo Hoo! Here comes my SS White Face SkyDweller!!!!

I got about $20. Seems not worth the effort to issue all those rebates.

We got a check. I recall it was $65 and I'm not complaining.

Clearly I’m using the wrong insurance, having received zero refund checks ever with only 2 speeding tickets on my record, and zero accidents.

I guess its a sign im getting old Ive never had a claim on auto ins in my life....and when i turned 62 my ins went up by 6 percent. I called my agent to complain "Well sir you moved into a higher risk group" Im 62 now my rates will keep going up till I die. Any way they can screw you going and coming they will.

Geico charged me about $160.00 less during the month of May due to the Coronavirus lockdown. It was my impression that more insurance companies were doing the same. Maybe not the same amount but something significant anyway.

I carry a 6 month one time payment policy with Geico. I was refunded $150 in May and they will also be taking off $150 when I renew.

I think the YMMV principle applies here...you (and I, too) prolly have low rates to begin with. Safe driver, bundled homeowners, low mileage, etc.).

The reduced rate is only on the portion of your premium that is keyed to mileage driven - and reflects a lower risk of collisions. That means the paltry reduction % was applied to an already low number.

Those who are getting higher $$ back are likely in higher risk profile and higher mileage.

Not defending the Insurance companies - just trying to explain...

Few months back, my company sent out a notice saying their 'COVID' discount would be applied to the next bill under a specific heading. Just got the bill, but don't see any applied discount or specific heading.

Guess I'm not a good enough neighbor.
