My wife, who is Japanese-American, and I spend so much time in Japan that it just made sense for us to buy a house there. Though only a few family members, we've a lot of friends there.

The Philippines, for me. My wife is from there. I enjoy it there too. So, it’s a logical choice. Maybe England, too. I lived there a couple years and both the wife and I have family and friends there.

Already did for a few years, went to the UK. Have my dual EU citizenship through Poland - have considered getting a place there many times.

I think as people get older one of the main concerns as to where to live revolves around health care and the cost and access to it.

I have dual citizenship in Canada and US and would love to live in some tropical place something like Hawaii or perhaps some Caribbean locale.

Cold weather left the option pool many years ago.

Winter is cold and wet

In other parts of the country you can have polar bears all year round
Sounds like it's pretty similar as our weather although your winters will probably be a bit colder

I stayed in Vancouver for a couple of days and found it to be fabulous, a variety of cultures, a most beautiful and friendly city, I loved it. Best steak I have ever had was on Davey Street, it must have been good, it was 12 years ago and I still remember it. So, Canada it would be.

Vietnam
Amazing beaches, mountains, friendly people and wonderful food. Plus you can buy a 3000 sq ft home on the ocean for 400k. Full time staff like a chef, nanny, or housekeeper cost around $250 a month.
Also one of the safest places in the world.

It is interesting that some here have chosen Scotland.

I left Aberdeen for New Zealand with my family when I was eighteen and then on to Australia when I was twenty-four.

There are some beautiful places in Scotland but nothing could ever tempt me to return there.

I’m happy in Oz.

I think Perth in in Western Australia would be a good choice.

I have just taken this pix, 10:45AM and 14C degrees and it’s a beautiful day.

I left the UK when I was 23. I've lived in HK for more than 30 years now and am pretty settled here. Not rich but great work/life balance, great wife, happy home, travel a lot (pre-covid) and this view from the living room...

I've heard he's currently planning a $100k garage conversion for you to move into...

Personally I'd move to Switzerland or Japan if I had the option.

I couldn't deal with it year-round, Bas, but it's fairly cool and dry here for 4-5 months of the year (not like Singapore). We even occasionally get winter frost on the highest ground
