Most here would advise against buying anything from overseas, especially a vintage Rolex.

It's had a bad knock around the winding crown/cyclops area, but if it stays under 100,000 yen I might be tempted. I'd bin that strap though.

Thanks Adam, does the movement looks good to you?

Are you referring to the customs duty for importing a used Rolex or is it something else?

I'm not a movement expert at all, but it looks pretty clean for a 1964 watch.

Well, there is the thing with Rolex USA and confiscation by customs. I don't know all the details, nor did I mean to sound like an authority.

It's just my observation that buying from overseas and coming through customs can be both thorny and costly.

I was also hoping that others could clarify.

If you want a nice 6694 that you dont have to worry about, contact Dickson Tai (DTwatches). He is a member on this forum and has that exact dial 6694 with a 79350 solid link bracelet for approx. $1650 US shipped. It has a little aging but it has a bracelet instead of a cheap pleather strap. Dickson is honest and fully stands behind what he sells. I have bought from him before and I was more than happy

Its an auction currently at 41,600 yen which is $385 US. I wonder how high it will go?

No idea, but like I said, if it stays under 100,000 yen, it's worth a go.

I don't believe it is illegal to import a Rolex into the US anymore....

I've heard that, too, but I don't know anyone who's dared to try it.

I did it, and others have reported success on TRF as well. There is even a thread with all the procedural details.

It was far easier to send a Rolex to the US than to send a small tin of cigars to Gerardo (had to prove they weren't Cuban).

Yes, luckily this time I did.. I usually never win any auctions...

Thanks Everyone for your valuable advice,

Shall I risk importing it to USA?

Thanks,
V

It's no risk. Ship it, pay the customs when it arrives, and enjoy it.

Two of my Rolexes came from overseas, was not an issue.
I doubt with an old one like that, no one would give it a second look.
