Omega Speedmaster 50th anniversary limited edit.

I have become interested in acquiring one of the new Omega 50th anniversary Speedmasters. The Omega site isn't too helpful, and I've seen these watches advertised with a transparent case back as well as some with a solid case back. I've also seen a couple of different crystal materials as well as the two different movements listed. Several sites show the traditional 1861 movement while other sites list the new co-axial movement.

Are there really this many variations of this limited edition model?

I prefer the 1861 manual movement with a solid case back and a sapphire crystal. Is this variety available?

Yes it is although you might have to hunt a bit. I picked one up recently at a "Swiss Show" held locally by one of the ADs in my area.
Omega is releasing 5957 examples-each example is marked on the back (mine is #327).
The watch does come with a sapphire crystal (WR 50 meters) and a solid case back with "Flight qualified" on the back (though I doubt NASA would agree because of the sapphire).
Using the excellent 1861 manual wind movement mine can be self-regulated to +/- 0 deviation (+1 during the day resting crown down at night losing the second)
The watch is known as the "patch" because of the distinctive logo on the dial.
Quite popular, Omegafiles feel the watch has some upside potential. MSRP is in the 4K range, but you can do better (a lot).

Thanks Mike. Great pics! I can deal with a MSRP of 4K and am willing to haggle for a better deal, but I wonder what the deal is with some sellers asking close to 10K for this watch. I've attached a link to one of them and have seen several other listings in the same price range. These pricier ones have an enamel dial and I've seen them in both a solid and a transparent case back.

Different anniversary reference. Omega made several using precious metals and different movements in far fewer numbers.

Here's a bit of link,
