If you had the cash would you buy a 5711?

In today’s market? $60k

No. I love the 5711 and bought one for a discount out of the case in 2015 then rebought for 42k in 2018 and couldn’t enjoy it.

Retail or pass.

I have this bug in my brain where if I know something is available for less, I have to buy it for the lower price.

If I was worth $200 million. Yes.

At my current status. No. Lol

But then again, if I was with $200 mill, I wouldn’t have to buy one for $60k most likely anyway.

Have you seen the watch? The dial isn't even blue. It is black-blue and doesn't even look like the photoshopped photos people post on watch forums and on IG.

The white dial is already going for below $54k. The blue one is not far behind. So, no.

If I have cash, I will buy every bonbon model. Every. Single. Bonbon.

And a chateau in France, maybe a vineyard or 2. Some race horses and a few exotic cars.

And a good size yacht. And helicopter.

For the look of it, not even at 25% discount from retail. A bit too vanilla.

I dig the bonbon models. I wish they had an additional complication though. Maybe a hidden date or something.

no shot. I love the 5711 but there are much cooler, more interesting watches at its current pricepoint.

There are worse things you could spend 60k on

I'm glad I didn't have to though.

If that was the watch I wanted, and didn’t feel like building a relationship with an AD = buying stuff I don’t want in order to be allowed to buy a 5711...then yes.

And I wouldn’t sell my own for $60K

It's easy for me to say "no" because I already have one that I bought 4 years ago, but if I am being honest, if I REALLY wanted one in todays market and found no other way, I would consolidate to buy it yes.
Is it silly to do so? Sure, but if I had no chance of getting it at retail and could care less if the price continues to go down etc, and if it would really make me happy and I can afford/justify it, yes I would pay.
I also didn't sell mine when the market was at $80K (like a lot of others), and that should technically be considered just as silly.

Buy what you like. If it makes you happy and you can afford it, it doesn't matter what anyone thinks! Life is too short to care if we/others think you should have bought another watch for that money; only you know how bad you want a watch and how happy it will make you.

Excellent put. And as Morgan King said on Talking Watches “Life is short, eat dessert first”
