assistance - Mont Blanc fountain pens (LE and Lacquer versions)

so... took the wife to a Mont Blanc store and tried out a few nib sizes...

quite pleased with their testers

then we (i meant, she) have settled on two pieces...

- Joseph II (limited edition)

and/or

- Boheme Lacquer Red (i think this is the pen - it has a retractable nib)

so, any opinions on MB limited edition pieces? anything i should be aware of? please bear in mind that this will be her first fountain pen (will probably be her only or two.. me thinks)

surprisingly the wife fell in love with the LE Joseph II and also likes the Boheme lacquer red.... LOL

i am aware of both prices too.

thanks.

Not sure the size of your wife's hand. For me I find it a bit irritating with the section screw threads on the late model LEs rubbing my fingers all the time. This does not happen on the 146 or 149s...
Also, the joseph is a much longer pen than the Boehme and may not fit smaller handbags...

One thing for sure, she has good tastes

BTW you can also get her to test the Montblanc Elizabeth 888. That is also a red pen with gold furniture.

The limited edition is a more special writing instrument and goes up in value when sold out.

The Boheme is also a wonderful pen and more on the feminine side as well in that color but it will be around and available more than the Joseph II.

As TRFers say and I quote “why don’t you get both”

There is sure nothing wrong in buying and using fine quality Fountain pens. Just make certain it feels good and comfortable in your hand(wife's hand)when you are using it(I too like and use the smaller MB fountain pens). As 2careless stated, if it is not comfortable...she will be less inclined to use it. There are also many other fine brands so I would suggest you have your lady test drive them as well. But I do really like MontBlanc fountain pens and carry and use two everyday. One is filled with MB's Oyster Gray ink and the other is filled with MB's Bordeaux.......
