Well, it's not something I'd wear every day, but there is a certain zest to it. Definitely says "hey, look at me".

I can't see myself ever owning quite a few models/references:

Date-Just
DeepSea SD
Milgauss
Yacht-Master
Daytona
Perpetual
Air-King

And actually, most of the modern line-up is of little interest, which is either depressing or good news, depending on view-point $£.

That's quite a list. Just Subs and GMTs, then?

Any Daytona or any wide lug maxi-case models.

I respectfully disagree, janice&fred. Vintage has always been "different strokes for different folks." That's why values are so hard to predict. Sometimes stainless is the hottest thing imaginable, but I wouldn't be surprised if the pendulum swung to PM within the next 15 years. I don't mind when folks tell me my bubbleback is "too small". It's not the size of the timepiece, it's how you use it.

Gilt sports models have never really done it for me, I think they look fragile. I know this is not the case but just where my head is at.

Agree. I never wear my 1964 gilt 5513. I can imagine those puffy lume plots coming off... Too much to lose. Bought it back when prices weren't as silly as todays'.

At the risk of offending an awful lot of Rolex Explorer owners, the one Rolex I would not purchase or own is the Explorer 11, with the White Dial, I find the Black Dial more desirable Of course everyone’s taste differs & no doubt there are people out there that might say that my Daytona may be the one Rolex that they would never purchase or own. So apologies to all the owners of the White Dial Explorer 11

Pretty much - Sea-Dwellers too.
And I like Explorers - you'll note they're not listed above
I've had a stunning Day-Date as well.

I can’t see myself wearing diamonds (Question- were those 1980s golden rock bracelets made by Rolex? Or some aftermarket? Because I hate them). Nor Roman numerals (except on a true dress watch, and using “IV” for 4, and not the Cartier “IIII”).

I have an aversion to watches with functions I don’t use or know how to use. That’s why the Daytona is not for me...now. I’m not saying “never” on it though.

Not at all. If you like pork and I prefer chicken, there's no reason for beef.

The Airking, explorer (black one specially. White is doable though), pearl masters, sea dweller (just coz I already own one diver, the submariner and the sea dwellers are a bit heavier and thicker).
