‘Getting better food’

A comment on TV got me thinking about what my first go to food was when I begin feeling better after an illness.

For me it has to be a sirloin steak and chips, with gravy, from the local Chinese takeaway. Something about their gravy does it for me.

I know Western food from an Eastern takeaway is a bit odd but it just hits the spot.

What’s yours?

At my local gourmet Chinese I really like their sizzling fillet steak with ginger and spring onion sauce, and some Kung Po prawns, I do love their sauces, nothing like a good dose of MSG! I never get fries at my Chinese or Indian, we have to have some rules.

Funny to think about these similarities but my college era post-hangover food fix was a big dish or Moo Goo Gai Pan.

Their fries certainly aren’t the best but they do go well with their gravy.

In-N-Out

Double Double (sometimes 2) animal style with fries and a shake after being sick for days and not eating.

Homemade chicken soup. I like to make the stock from scratch and then add a lot of fresh veggies. In a pinch a Costco roasted chicken can speed up the process.

Oddly if I am feeling lazy, Pizza works too. Not sure why. Oh wait I love PIZZA!

McDonald’s filet-o-fish sandwich for me. That’s been my go-to since I was a kid, although I’m not really sure why.
