London visit, in pictures

The first stop of our Euro trip. Amazingly, we got zero rain while traveling through London, Brussels (as well as Bruges and Ghent), and Amsterdam.

We stayed in Leicester Square on the front half and at the Dixon, Tower Bridge during the back; the Dixon is a former courthouse / jail and is a great hotel. Highly recommend Bob Bob Ricard for dinner. We also checked out Mama Mia in the West End, and took an afternoon tea tour with B Bakery. Favorite spot for me was St. Dunstan in the East, an old church that was bombed during the Blitz and is now a public park.

After all these trips through Europe, I'm surprised that this was our first through London together. Truly a great city!

Today was a lovely sunny day, weather much milder these years, was freezing in the 80s when I was a kid. Looks like the Afternoon Tea was nice and hope you enjoyed my Yard.

Haha, thanks - wife and I are nearing our 40's here in a couple years, but I appreciate the kind words.

Our two boys are 4 and 2, and we're going to have to start taking them with us at some point. We are taking them to Romania and a couple cruises later this year, so it's not all fun and games without them!!

Great shots!

My favorite is the one of your wife on the tea bus enjoying (or not) the sweets. Its one of those photos that make you wonder what is going on in her mind.

Do ‘t worry about traveling with kids. Other than the expense, it is totally doable. Those parents that complain simply have raised kids that are pains in the butt in all aspects of life, not just travelling. I just booked a week in Spain this fall and my kids are amped.

If I might ask, what camera are you using?

Yes, definitely like to travel with the boys, but we also like getting around without them as well at times! They're at an age where hauling them across the water every time we go (we have 3 Europe trips this year alone) would not be beneficial for either party...haha.

I use a 5-year old Fuji x100s that I absolutely love; I no longer use my Nikon D90. There are strong rumors that the x100v will be announced next month, and I do think I might be in for an upgrade. I'm 100% Fuji at this point!

My wife and I made our first trip to London after a cruise throughout the British Isles. We stayed for a week at The Royal Horseguards and loved every second of our trip.

My wife was a mounted police officer for a large part of her career and so the sight of the Metropolitan Police Horse lorry around the corner from Horseguards was exciting for her.

While at Horseguards Parade, the two horses on duty with the Life Guards were a bit aloof as they should be. This guy was almost asleep when I had my photo taken.

But when my wife stood next to him for her photo opportunity, he seemed to know she was a horse person and wanted his face petted. I think animals are so intuitive.

I'm going back to England with my brother in August, to ride our motorcycles throughout England, Scotland and Wales. I'm really looking forward to that trip.
