PF Chronometer for Rolex Deepsea?

I wore this a bit today and am tempted to trade a 116660 DSSD for it.

The 40.8mm case is completely hand made, with the bezel done by a specialist on an old hand machine tool. All the case work is carried out in a mountain chalet workshop. The movement is an automatic COSC with certificate and extensive hand finishing to a very high level, thin enough to allow a 9.8mm case thickness.

The dial and hands are done in, what I see as, a retro sport casual fashion but am I the only one to find it attractive? Am I just being seduced by the craftsmanship and appreciation for the artisans, or is this an attractive dial?

My decision will ultimately be independent of any views but I just want to know who thinks this is, or isn’t, as cool as I do?

It's a beautiful watch but completely different than the DSSD. Also a lot less demand on the secondary market. I would not do a straight up trade.

Yes, that is all true Glad to hear someone else thinks it’s attractive! I’ve never seen these “javelin” hands before, beautifully executed in rose gold.

Just to clarify, the specialist who does the bezel is the only guy in the world left who is expert in the machine tool use. This, according to the watches.tv video linked below. Very interesting video.

That Parmigiani Fleurier is ten times the watch the SD is but it doesn't have the resale value. Do what that what you will.

“Craftsmanship” “case work done in mountain chalet” “only guy in the world left”

All your words - I feel this watch will give you 100x the enjoyment that your DSSD gives you. If you think of the trade just as something that enables you to acquire it then you should jump on it right away. If however you are thinking about future cash flow needs (which is valid) then you probably shouldn’t

Thanks for your thoughts.

There is a strong appeal knowing that real craftsman made your watch. Old school casework like this is in many ways more seductive than movement finishing, which is still very high level on this model. It has a central rotor and is not the same as the micro rotor Vaucher that they and others use entry. This is the Vaucher movement that goes in many RIchard Mille pieces, but executed in a traditional style.

I came across this Tim Mosso video review, albeit in rose gold instead of white.

Although a technically superb watch, the DSSD is a horror to wear for anyone with a wrist 7" or under. Having owned two, that was my opinion, and I sold one and traded the other.
Your Parmigiani looks terrific on your wrist.

I thank you for sharing your personal experience and compliment on how it looks on me.

The Mosso video shows how the lugs, which are hand soldered on , are actually curved to hug the wrist. The wrist feel is great and I agree that the watch flatters my wrist.

When I heard it was 40.8 I thought it might be large for a dress watch but with this dial and hands it is more a casual all rounder than a dress watch imho.
