My First Patek (5712)

I picked up my highly anticipated 5712 this week and what an experience. I couldn't be more thrilled with the look and feel of it. It took a year and a half for the call, but it was worth it. The sales experience at the Patek salon was beyond perfect, and I was treated to champagne and an overall purchase encounter befitting of the brand.

I was also gifted a patek tie, a travel case, a free service, and a pair of patek gloves.

Now back to the watch. It's definitely much lighter and more fragile feeling than I'm accustomed to wearing. But then again I've had one model of Rolex or another on my wrist 99% of the time. It goes without saying that the watch is stunning. The bracelet is among the most comfortable I've ever worn, and the dial changes color depending on the lighting, which is sublime.

I'll have more to say after I've had a few weeks worth of wear. But for now I will sit back and continue to stare at the dial. What a beauty.

Cheers! I'm not so sure about status; I think they used the freebies to get me to spend on my second piece sooner rather later! :)

enjoy the swag. My AD has never once given me anything except their own store branded travel watch cases which are awful. So getting it happens sometimes and sometimes it doesn't.

The Salons automatically give:

a) Travel Case;
b) Extra strap
c) Free first service

thats their USP. However its an excellent negotiation starting point with your AD....

I finally have some sway with my AD as far as sourcing pieces so i doubt jumping to a salon at this point would help me get watches which I much prefer to swag. What kind of stuff should i be asking my AD for? Since I haven't ever gotten any I don't really know where to start. I have seen wallets before but I don't like them.

I have a pretty good purchase history with them overall but just one PP. My next will probably be a 5712 or a 5726. Im betting 5726 as that will probably come first.

Just googled the travel case. If its the leather one that looks like a phase de lune case, thats pretty nice. Ill probably push for that as i would actually use it.

I normally ask for travel case and spare strap as a start.

On my one and only PP purchase the AD gave me a PP wallet so safe to say your AD should have the ability to throw something in for you

Congratulations!

That is a stunner - I want this to be my first Patek if I make the leap of faith. Only problem is I can't even find an AD that'll take my name on the list even though I have no problem waiting a few years as I save up for this piece.
