This solid gold monster diver (aka DSSD in 18k) is probably the most ridiculous Rolex release in history.
Somehow Rolex prefers to “waste” the gold on a diver rather than releasing the classic 36mm DD or gold DJ on a leather strap.

This year releases are all about +30k usd models. Ridiculos sport models in full gold and lots of bling.
What happened to the regular folk that saves up for a few years to get steel model?! Anything for us?!

so now we know rolex will not be ramping up production in their new factory. Instead using it to build more and more different variations. Look at the GMT variations now.

Rolex have done exactly what we should all expect from them. We appreciate Rolex for their perfection and long term dedication to excellence. They have shown that you don’t have to be trendy to be sought after and desirable. You have to be timeless. Rolex has shown that they don’t need new hot release as they will always be the collectors first and last watch.

Yeah kind of a meh release. They do that every so often. They clearly did not want any hype (and more demand) in these releases. The GMT may get some attention. I can’t picture who would be wearing a 44mm gold DSsD?

That brand is Tudor my man.

If you want a stainless steel model, from a company clearly listening to customers and doing fresh things, thats where you go.

If you want a similar PM piece, you go Rolex.

Fairly clear thats the strategy.

That’s what they have been doing. You are right.
It started with Tudor Pepsi GMT, now we have Tudor Coke GMT and so on.
While you are waiting to get a ss Rolex Pepsi GMT you buy a Tudor…..or if you have lots of fazools you pull the triger on 2 tone and solid gold pieces.

They win no matter how you look at it. Rolex folks are no fools…..they got us in the spot they want us to be.

I’m sure there are enough people with more money than brains who will line up for this vulgar monstrosity just because it is flashy and expensive. From a business perspective it makes sense for Rolex to do this, the markup is waay beyond the gold value of the watch. Does it come with the dodgy 32xx movement?

Agreed, my five digit Sub looks better all the time
