You have a good attitude. Some might end up much more bitter and paranoid.

That's because in this trade the people with more experience are 6ft under and don't have the opportunity to pass their skills onto their apprentices.

Glad you had a safe happy ending. A gang of thieves tried to Jack me for my Date-Just in Caracas in 1997, but I had 2 partners and they lost the element of surprise. They followed us on the subway but did not hit me (us).

Big problem on the East Coast of Australia with early teenage criminals who are the main perpetrators of muggings, B&E, vandalism, car theft etc because at sub-17 yrs they will end up in the Childrens Court and will only be warned - which they consider a joke.
If on the other hand you dare to defend yourself, you will end up with a custodial sentence for hurting the little darlings. The parents are usually druggies or alcoholics or both and so not expected to provide "care". The government services that have the brief to look out for disadvantaged or abused children are reluctant to intervene for fear of being accused of 'stealing' the children and in any case there are few Foster Parents that want recidivist offenders.
Wear a $20. plastic watch and leave your wallet and phone at home. Carry a big stick.

You have a good outlook on life and I’m really glad it wasn’t worse than it was.

Mugging with Oyster Perpetual

That’s a terrible experience you had to go through, thankfully you’re safe and not seriously harmed.

They got your wallet, but your spirit/outlook/attitude can’t be stolen.

I was robbed over 25 years ago, and it took a while to get over it. They only got $15 but it was the threat of death that stayed with me.

Glad you are OK.

I am so glad you are OK. We had a mugging attempt at 5:30 in the morning here in the Washington at the other side of the USA. The pleasant town of Fircrest, a man and his girlfriend were walking when 3 muggers were suddenly on top of them. One of the muggers grabbed the man’s throat and said: This is how it’s going to go down! The man was armed and opened fire putting 2 muggers in the hospital and the 3rd exiting the area like a track star. I’m guessing people are being let out of jail due to Covid and can’t find honest employment so they go back to crime.
