I Really Don’t Understand

So today a new Black Bay 58 was introduced with a blue dial and blue bezel, MSRP $3,700.
I contacted a “trusted seller”. Price, $5,300.
Really, what gives? And this is nothing new. It’s been going on for awhile now. I understand supply and demand but now the bargains are at the AD’s where you usually pay MSRP.
Somebody please explain.

New release. Limited supply. Cashing in on the “I want it now” crowd.

Give it a little time and I’m sure you’ll find the price you want.

They get their stock from AD’s right? Seems like everything got reversed.

The embedded cost of endorphins and beating the Joneses is strong.

Wait 6mo and ask the Grey what the trade in value is; make sure you’re sitting down.

I’m a patient guy. Paying over MSRP for anything is a deal breaker.

Oh, I do Tony. It’s not out of ignorance that I asked the question because I really do understand. I guess my question should’ve been why would anyone pay almost 45% over MSRP.

It will be sold by the weekend...

Or it won’t be.

That will tell how strong the piece is in the market.

I’m meh on it. Not a big release for me..

Interesting how we berate flippers but we're totally fine with it if a trusted seller does the exact same thing.

Both are just capitalizing on the moment and making as much as they can from those willing to pay it.

Ive bought all tudors at discounts and they are all worth less than that. I would pay msrp but no more for this model. I am seeking one but will need to be patient at this point.

I feel your pain Angelo. The sad thing is someone will pay it, or close to it, just to say they have it.

I’m really glad I’m not in the market for anything these days.

I saw this as well...I think a lot of it is these “collectors” on Instagram want to be one of the first people to post a wrist shot with it...it’s borderline hilarious to see each of them comment how they will have theirs soon or it’s on the way. There is a clear pissing match I’m afraid but it’s fun to watch.

It sold. At this point, market agrees with the pricing...

Sure it will come down as more become available.

I hear you, especially for a Tudor.

People go crazy for colors I guess. Look at the batman. Slap half the bezel insert with blue and the price goes way up.
