1 month and a half and still in love.

With the help of a TRF member I was able to source a brand new Daytona a month and half ago. After these 45 days I can honestly say I like thaw watch more now, than I did the day it arrived. It is a perfect everyday watch that will be with me forever.

Hope everyone and their families are staying very safe. Wishing everyone a blessed weekend.

Awesome watch indeed!

I still find it interesting to how the SS Daytona has smaller lugs on the pusher side compared to the left side, while PM Daytonas have equal sized lugs on both sides.

This blows my mind too. Not sure why they did that, but I guess they have their reasons

Ok please explain - comparing the both can’t tell the difference at all!

Just compare the lugs on the right side between the Platona and the SS one...or just compare the lugs on both sides on each watch, they are the same size on the Platona, but smaller on the right side of the SS.

Ok now I notice it, just a very little bit. If I have was told this would have never known. Does Rolex have an explanation for this? Interesting.

Yes, this is a fabulous piece. I recently picked my up from my amazing AD and also am 100% in love. On days I don't wear it, I pull out my watch roll to admire its beauty. Truly is a perfect watch.

.... not the yellow gold models, unless on oysterflex. They have smaller lugs on the pusher side. Red and white gold have equal sized lugs one all models though.

ETA, look at white vs yellow below. A big difference where the lower pusher meets the case

And been like that on most all the SS sports line up like Daytona, Subs, SD, GMT,for the past 30 plus years.

I read somewhere that it was for balance because on the right side there already was the pushers, crown and crown protector. That said I’m not sure why then the PM models have larger right side lugs ... perhaps it was part of “bigger” craze to super size without changing size of case above 40mm? But why limit just PM?

Then why not for yellow gold?

Also red gold and white gold then? That can’t be the reason.

Aha! Here’s a possibility:

The current Daytona range launched in 2000 with the Steel, Two-tone and Yellow gold models. These all share an identical case profile. In 2004 the White gold model was launched and was given a different case profile to distinguish it from the Stainless steel model. The Rose gold model came in 2008 and decision had to be made which profile to use, I assume the symmetrical profile being chosen because it is a better design.

Just a theory.
