I was wondering the same thing...they have an opportunity to steal some thunder since Rolex and Tudor both laid an egg at Baselworld!
Guess we’ll see! |

Swatch group is hosting their own event called "Time to Move" which was slated (last time I checked) for March 19-26 in Zurich.
I'm hopeful we'll start seeing the new releases any time now. |

Correct. Omega, Breguet, Blancpain, etc. should start having press releases later today or tomorrow.

With the drama (and letdown of the Rolex Basel showing), this is really a great opportunity for Omega to shine. Hopefully they take advantage and release some great models (along with the obvious anniversary releases).

Every chance, the new SMPs last year were great.

Agreed. They knocked the SMP out of the park.

Couldn't agree more. Any non-bias collector will agree the new SMP blows the Sub out of the water.

It's the power of branding and also Rolex's resale cache. For a lot of people, it justify spending 10K on a watch they will in normal circumstanes won't because they see this purchase as "investment" instead of expenditure. Even for me, at certain high enough price point, I will factor in resale consideration as well although not at the price level of a SS rolex.

Agree with you 100%. A lot of brands can make some great headway in the market if they play their cards right. Omega, Grand Seiko, Breitling....

Omega need to build up their image (and perhaps pair down the limited editions). The SMP is a great start. I'm hoping they continue gaining momentum with their success.

The six luxury brands in the group – Blancpain, Breguet, Glashutte Original, Harry Winston, Jaquet Droz and Omega will be showing retailers in Zurich during the Baselworld 2019 dates. The world’s media will have to wait till an event known as “Time to Move” which will be held from May 14 to 16 in Switzerland. |

Swatchgroup finds a way to flub things. All the Rolex "turds" will be greatly in demand by the time May rolls around and Omega's opportunity is lost.

Ok so nothing until May?
I agree with the comments above that this is a big opportunity for Omega with the poor show from Rolex. I am waiting to see what happens with the Moonwatch, although I supposed the whole point of it is it shouldn't change, so I may as well buy now. |
