A second pic of mine. Love the racing dial from this era.

I have the racing dial too and it’s still my absolute favorite. You just feel special wearing this reference as your daily. Absolutely gorgeous! I also agree with observations that a ceramic bezel will make the WG reference perfect since the WG bezel is its most vulnerable part and its a sports watch. Bezel should be tougher and preferably not high gloss.

Worth a lot more than the SS version, even against the 116500 ceramic Daytona, which had reached the crazy asking price of $20k (which is enough to buy an used 116509)

Just resurrecting this one because of how beautiful that 116509 Panda (Silver-black) looks. Seriously overlooked and undervalued in my humble opinion, and serious 6263 vibes!
Anyone else has pics and reviews to share? I would totally put on a Cerachrom bezel, both for the look and to save that precious WG bezel. |

one of my all time favorites. I've been on the fence on this one for a long time and prefer it like this compared to how it would look with a ceramic bezel. Extremely rare and most AD's have no idea it exists.
But at the retail price the thing that keeps me from pulling the trigger is that a Platona can be had for not THAT much more. I wear my watches pretty hard so gold gets scratched really really quickly which also leads me to platona appeal.

Agreed - really an 'under the radar' model that does not seem to get the attention it deserves. If it were SS, waiting lists would be a decade long!
On the plus side, one of the few pieces that one can get below RRP. At the rate SS daytonas are going, probably decent value! |
