think it would hurt the resale value of rolex's 5-digit or even 6-digit subs if the tudor sub is really released and in the 4000usd price range.

I would be down for a re-imagined Tudor Sub!

Tudor hinting at new submariner?

Let’s not get crazy. We need to remember, Tudor and Rolex are completely different products and are purchased by a completely different buyer. Yes, there will be a crossover here and there like myself who purchased a blue Pelagos. As much as I loved it, I traded it months later for a WG Submariner. The Tudor Submariner is a thing of the past and that’s where it will remain. The brand finally got its buying power back, what, 5-7 years ago. They weren’t even being sold in the U.S. With its current line up and rebranding I doubt Rolex Corp is going to do anything to hurt the brand, and IMO a Tudor Submariner would hurt the brand. And furthermore, we all know Rolex doesn’t make big announcements. This would be very uncharacteristic of a brand who takes baby steps when changing even the color of some font. As much as I would like the Tudor fans happy this year at Basel, I really doubt we will see a Submariner from this strengthening brand. Sorry to be such a downer fellas...

I think this is a question. If so, I don’t think it will take one penny from the 5 digit or current reference Submariner. I have a colleague who wants a 16610 very badly. After divorce and kids in college he’s still waiting to buy one. I’ve told him of very good options instead of a five digit Submariner, but he wants a Rolex. I feel many are in the same situation. Tudor is having great success, but it will always be missing what it’s missing, and that is the Rolex name on the dial.

Won't do didly squat for resale. The vintage market is strong enough to survive a nuclear fallout on earth. There is a finite number of vintage in a very finite level of condition. In fact, when you look across all brands, I can't remember any vintage resale that was affected by a rerelease. The Tudor Pepsi is a fine example, the only defining difference between a 16710 is the snowflake hands.
Look at 16710 vintage sales post 2018 with two new GMTs.

Soooo, onto another "waiting list". I have a serious case of waiting list fatigue, but I have significantly lower expectations nowadays.

This means it's likely for Rolex to have a new sub too!

I agree.

If they remake the classic Tudor Sub and sell it for $3K it will sell well, that's for sure. But it's still not a Rolex. Tudor might be well respected among us, the collectors and other WIS, but for the general public it's completely obscure brand.

There are a lot of people who buy Rolex mainly because of its reputation and brand name. Tudor is a ZERO threat to Rolex sales... vintage or modern, imho.

Here:

And this aligns almost perfectly with the Tudor Instagram teaser.
I know this is a prototype but it's much nicer looking than a 114060 or 116610.

If it is a blue Sub I think they can ask for more than this.

I wondered how long it would be left to BS micro brands - Ginault Ocean Rover etc. Some are ripping off the latest steel slabs but still. It's been a disgrace as the demand for pre maxified affairs is obviously there. About time Imo.

I would be disappointed if it doesn't happen now, with these teases in the last few months.

Tudor will do something interesting at Basel 19 and this could be it. I don't see how it could miss.

Last year BLRO was rolex highlight. Along side the big brother, tudor launched their GMTs.

This year, Tudor hints at their new sub... so Rolex new Sub? A man can dream.

I know it is highly unlikely, but I have a feeling this is going to happen. I will message an AD or two before Basel just to put my name down, no way I will miss out on this. I have a 90's Tudor Submariner and it has quickly become my favourite watch. I would be all over a modern iteration. Fingers crossed!

I wouldn't be opposed to the snow flake hands as long as the markers were square (which isn't likely given the teaser photo). My biggest gripe with the black bay line is the circular markers with the square snowflake hands. It doesn't match and I think it looks odd.
