Bittersweet double incoming

A couple of weeks ago I found myself in the unenviable position of walking in to my hotel room to find the safe door open and the 5513 I left there that morning gone. I don’t want to sound too dramatic as it is ‘just a watch’ but I was pretty devastated. My insurance and the hotel are battling that one out and the result remains to be seen.

It seems fortune favours the unlucky in this scenario as in the space of one week I’ve had two calls to pick up two amazing watches.

I give you, my new 116610LV and 126600

Look forward to diving them both in a couple of weeks!

Very sorry to hear about the loss of the 5513 -- I'm sure that one is going to be very difficult to properly replace.

Congrats on the LV and SD though. Those two make for a stellar diver pair! Hope things work out as painless as possible regarding the insurance company and hotel.

Buzzkill to lose your 5513. But these two should at least make you feel better! Congrats. Love that LV.

Wow,

That's too bad on the 5513, I'm guessing you are suggesting someone else opened the safe, I hope you didn't forget to lock it up (I've been guilty of that numerous times but haven't lost anything over my error.

Thank you

You’re right, the 5513 will be hard to replace. I’m a professional diver and that was my grail when I was working offshore. Bought it and used it as intended for four years. Had plenty of colleagues tell me they’ll steal it when I wasn’t looking. At least someone beat them to it

Sorry to hear that.
I only travel with one watch and it is on my wrist or on the night stand next to me.
The violation one feels after an experience like yours is worse than the material loss.

Someone opened it. A friend of mine (with a somewhat dodgy past) told me it’s very easy to open hotel safes with nothing more than a strong magnet. I went on YouTube and sure enough there’s tutorials!!,

Sorry about 5513. Congrats on the pair. Last summer my AD sold me those 2 at the same time too

You’re 100% right about the violation.

I have often travelled with 2-3 watches but will be rethinking that plan going forwards.

Sorry for the loss. Congrats on the incomings though....but that 5513 would be a hard void to fill for me personally with modern watches. Maybe another will come your way in the future.

Seems like this is the handy work of someone within the hotel. I am very sorry for this, and hopefully it can be recovered / replaced with little effort on your side.

On the other hand, congrats and two great incomings!!

Terribly sorry to hear about the 5513. It is a rush of emotions when someone steals something meaningful and I hope all gets worked out in your favor, my friend.

Congratulations on the two incomings though! Although it doesn’t remedy the situation it does help quite a bit!

SO sorry to hear about your loss. Truly. But so happy you could get two wonderful pieces to replace it (somewhat).

Man, I always travel with two watches. Maybe not anymore....

Sorry to hear the news.

All I can say as a fellow 116610LV owner is it is a great watch with a personality you will make your own.

Great double incoming and I hope all comes good with hotel/insurance.

Beautiful incomings, sorry to hear about the loss of the other. Hopefully insurance will come through for you and you will buy another to replace the old one.

Sorry to hear about your 5513.
Two great references you've got now to help ease the pain. Hopefully insurance will take care of you.

I might have mentioned in the past how much I despise thieves.

Congratulations on the incomings.

Yeah, not the security you would hope for, I actually hide my watch if it's an extra in the room in luggage and clothing, usually dirty underware with minimal valuables in the safe as a diversion if it comes to a break in by staff, which has happened to me. I also carry a fake wallet with a dead credit card when I'm in Mexico or islands with 100 pesos or whatever just in case. Never had to go there, knock on wood...

Wow, sorry to hear that! I would think the hotel would at least have cameras in the hallway. I definitely need to rethink traveling with more than one watch and using the hotel safe.

Congrats on the two new beasts though!

Congratulations on the incoming. Perhaps you can add an image of the watch and serial number to the Watchout section. That way there will be an online footprint and if a potential buyer does some research, you never know. They do occasionally get found.
