Tudor Heritage Ranger loud rotor?

I don't know much about the 2824 movement. Rotor sounds pretty loud on my wife's wrist when she moves. Brand new purchased from an AD yesterday for her BDay. I've never heard a rotor that loud before. Just making sure there's nothing wrong with it.

A great question for the true gurus. Of the top of my head, I'd say something is amiss as I've never heard the rotor on any of my watches. Best of luck, as I know when it's a gift it's doubly important that it's behaving itself.

Thanks Billy. That's my concern also. I've never heard any this loud. It's even louder than my Sistem 51 and I know reviews say that the movement in the 51 is loud.

2824 should not be making audible rotor noises

Paraphrasing the message from my AD, basically they are saying that Tudor isn't a silent winding rotor and you can hear it.

Go back to the AD and try another to see if it sounds the same.

Hey Adam. Will do. They had 2 other Rangers there in the case. Also had 2 Black Bays and 2 Pelagos. I believe they all use the same movement so I can give them a listen.

The 2824 is not silent like a Rolex movement. I think all ETA's have some rotor noise.

ETA movements use a ball bearing in the rotor, Rolex uses a solid axle

You mean the noise was normal, or they replaced the watch?

Yes, all my ETA movements make noise (especially 7750's) when they rotate, and they wobble when shaken from face front to caseback. My guess is that it is normal, but like Adam's suggestion, compare with another Tudor.

Plus points for getting your wife a cool watch. Looks like a great excuse for you borrowing her watches rather than the other way around.

My last DOXA with an ETA movement was very noisy to the point I called the company, they assured me that it was normal, it's been almost 4 years now and it's still running fine. Happy to hear that yours is running fine!

That's good to know. I really disliked this watch when it first appeared, and made some negative comments about it on the forum. Now I really like it, and it's top of my to-buy list. Like a lot of Rolex and Tudor watches, I guess you have to hate it before you love it. Still, I'm going to wait till local re-sellers here have it down closer to 2k.

Guess that means there's either a YM II or a Sky Dweller in my future...

I've been testing some new 2824s and they're kinda audible I suppose, but theyre not noisy by any means. Its a hit or miss on this one. 7750 is loud though, and so is the eta 2000. I once Read someone complain about his 7750 being noisy. He said it made it made the watch feel cheap, the solution, according some smart ass, was "buy a more expensive watch". LoL!!!

I did buy one finally, and sooner than expected thanks to a friendly AD in Italy. I can't hear the rotor at all unless I hold it closely to my ear (couple of inches).

A lot of the noise of an ETA rotor is masked by the case, especially diver style watches. In a thin dress style case all are noisy. I had a guy complain because his Omega (with a 2824-2) made so much noise. I checked with Omega themselves and was told that the noise is normal. All mine rattle and grind and always have. Clean them, lube them, makes no difference..they are noisy.

I'm a new Tudor Black Bay owner I bought it just before Christmas! I have to say it isn't loud. If I hold the watch in my hand and shake it gently I can feel the rotor and there is a small amount of noise. I also own a Rolex Oyster Date 15200 that my wife wears daily and has for the past 7 years and that is fairly silent. I have a friend who has a Paneri and that is what I would call noisy. I was shocked to hear and feel the vibration on that watch.
