I really like it though i want to hear opinions.

Before 7 days i visited the Panerai boutique in Milan and tried the Pam 422 which i have my eyes on it the last month... i felt in love though the price 9100 with V.A.T seems slightly high for a brand that it is not at the pick ( i might be wrong)
So i wanted some opinions if you guys think it is worth the money.
i always buy new things ( watches, cars e.t.c ) hard to purchase a used one.
Thank you in advance.

It is a great watch. If it doesn't hurt you financially and you're buying within your means, then go for it. If you buy a watch to wear and keep it (not flipping) then paying retail is fine, based on not being comfortable buying used.

I'm sure others will recommend you purchase used, and financially they may be right, but if you don't like buying used, then buy new!

Thank you for your reply.
I do not know if I explain correctly my thoughts. Before one year I bought a gmt blnr new at the price of 8200 euros.
I am not comparing the 2 watches but I think exists a big difference in the brands value and still I concern if it is to much for a brand not at it's best.
Again thanks anyone that will reply.

It is difficult to compare Rolex and Panerai as it is an apples to oranges situation. I like both brands and I own four Rolex watches and three Panerai watches. I slide back and forth on Panerai as I love the watches but do not like the company and the way they market and play games with releases. I own the 422 and like it a great deal. Goes very well with many different straps. I would ask for a discount from the retailer and typically if they will not give one they will add a few straps. Should you decide to sell the 422 in the future you will lose 30-40% from msrp. If you are not going to sell or trade for a while then no issues. I say go for it and have some fun. Good luck and keep us posted on what you decide.

As both Rolex & Panerai owner myself, there is no comparison in terms of value retention. The simple fact is that if you buy Panerai at sticker price, you will lose anywhere between 30%-50% depending on the model when you try to sell it. If that doesn't bother you or if you're planning to keep it forever, then by all means pick it up because 422 is a great watch (although I personally prefer 372 more). If you reconsider your position on only buying new, then you can pick up a used 422 in a mint condition at 30% discount easily from grey dealers.

Now, if we step away from the financial discussion and focus on the brand itself, I can say with all honesty that my 372 evokes more emotional response when I wear it than either of my two Rolex watches. There is something intangible in Panerai that simply does it for me. Unique look, design aesthetic, history? Perhaps all of it.

Since you’re set on buying new,buy the BNIB set from grey dealer for bigger savings (20 to 30%)

Personally I’d only buy boutique exclusive from the boutique

What sort of discounts can we expect from them?

Absolutely love my Panerai (233). I bought it used and won’t lose on it. But, it’s definitely the one I miss most when I wear anything else. It’s the one I holiday with and the one I can’t see selling.

The price new from a boutique is the price when new. You could ask for a discount, and you’re sure to have success asking for a couple of straps.

Panerai boutiques don't discount. ADs do, but depends on a piece.

I have a PAM422 and I am sure you will be in love with it if you buy it. Others in this thread has already mentioned it, but just to reiterate.. buy it somewhere non-AD for 20% to 30% discount and you won't have any regrets.

European boutiques don’t do discount, but they can arrange for bigger percentage of tax refund or even direct cash refund in boutique plus extra straps

Japan boutique can do direct 10% off tax but their price is expensive to begin with

I see. So boutiques are the places you go to try on the watches.

I like the watch but not the price. You can do much better at an AD.
