Two tone models can pretty easily be identified as fakes by weight. I’ll defer to the real experts on the details, but I haven’t seen a fake that tries to clone the extra weight from gold.

Flea market find! REAL OR FAKE?

The hour marker at 12 o’clock looks suspect to me (it could just be the angle). I’m not an expert on any of them though and the 11 series is my least favorite so I never really pay attention to them.

I probably would have taken the gamble if the price was right. What did you pay?

I didn’t get it in the end as he wanted £200 but I was too nervous. I do know him and he said he would hold it for me

I can email the high quality pictures of the face and strap. At least 4 links were missing though so wouldn’t fit my wrist

I think you can answer your question yourself.

At 200, you don’t need to ask. If it were real, the gold melt would be worth more than that, so you can rule out that it is stolen. 99% chance this is one of the super fakes that goes for less than a grand brand new, and with the damage it will cost a fair bit to fix. No value here.

I didn’t have anything to open it with, I will try and get him to send a picture. Probably a waste of time judging by the replies.

I'd have taken the risk. If it would be fake it would've shown signs of the gold parts fading and revealing the regular metal underneath. From the pics the watch looks pretty banged up but all the gold looks intact.
For 200 Quid I'd have risked it. Worst case scenario it'd make a funny story.
Also cyclops and date seem to be spot on on the pics, and that's usually a dead giveaway on fakes.

Why would someone treat it so badly if it was real?

Flea market find! REAL OR FAKE?

I don’t believe the flip lock is genuine.

And further inspection of the dial leads me to believe the minute hand is not authentic either.

Some people have the mentality of “why spend x amount on a watch to not enjoy it and just stare at it in the safe?”. Myself included.

Why don’t you guys understand that flea market finds don’t happen anymore. 30 years ago before the internet was a resource, yes, you could find steals. Now there is a wealth of info and guys/websites you can email, so many different ways to verify price and/or legitimacy for ANY type of item. You seriously think some guy in modern day has a potential Rolex and just sells it onwards for 200gbp instead of seeing if it’s real? Like come on

I don’t understand why this is so hard to grasp

There is still deals they’re just few and far between. Most either don’t care or presume it’s fake.

I have a buddy who’s mantra is “when in doubt, throw it out.” I’d go so far as to say he’s not that extreme compared to some that just bring in a dumpster and completely clean out grandpas house with no regard because in their mind everything is junk.

Let's see the movement, the escapement in particular.
We then can decide if the seller gets his "white stuff"

All you all saying fake, if there’s something I’m missing please DM me and let me know the issues you’re seeing if they’re different than what I’ve called out.

I probably would have bought this for 200 quid so any knowledgeable reasons not to are appreciated.
