1000th Thread!
Well, here its been, just over six months, 1000 posts, and a lot of fun! Why is that, you ask? Because of all of YOU, of course! TRF is like walking into a resturant for lunch and finding folks you know sitting at each and every table. I'd like to thank you for all the good fun and the wealth of information that comes out every day here. It is the most enjoyable, educational, and friendly forum on the web, IMHO.
As a lot of you know, I lurked here for several months before making my first Rolex purchase last July. I wanted a Sub for 25 years or so (I lost count), and finally took the plunge. How I did it turned out to be the best avenue possible (an AD), and I took that choice based on your good opinions! Now, after being bitten by the WIS bug, I am lusting after another. But the house rennovation is upon me, and I will take my time and wait and consider. Monetary logic is always compelling, isn't it? I have narowed it down to a couple of choices, and humbly ask your opinions. First, I love the Red Submariner. But unless something miraculous happens, I'll probably decide against spending the (now) enormous price. But vintage rocks for me, and I might go after a good condition 5513 if the price is right... Second, the Pepsi GMT II has always caught my eye. Who in their right mind wouldn't love one of those!!! I feel the new GMT IIc will probably be around for a while, and after trying one on I think I like the others enough to tip the balance in their favor ever so slightly. I wonder what the chance of finding a GMT II Pepsi with the 3186 would be? And last but never least, there's the TT Blue Sub! I have NEVER run across anyone who doesn't think it is shatteringly beautiful! Seeing one in person is serious business indeed. A likely finalist! I'll definitely wait for Basel, barring the unexpected, of course. But I would like to hear from you guys early on, and take all your opinions into consideration whilst I ponder my next move. I don't think I intend to buy with the intention of flipping at all, BTW! So thanks to all for everything, I look forward to more of the insanity with the greatest of anticipation! Jamie

I would not get the TT Sub since you already have the Sub Date. I would vote for pepsi.

Hi Jamie, saw a new Pepsi at an AD today in Georgia. Let me know if you're interested.

I have an early 5513 that I am going to sell - it has a gilt dial and rivited bracelet - no date
I am going to put it up here in the next couple weeks I also like the blue sub - but not crazy about the two tone bracelet I want to put the 5513 against a new rolly or an Omega early 70's 300 or 600 divers |

Congrats on the 1k! I also really want a red 1680 but I think I may go for a regular 1680 unless I get a really good deal on a red. I just love that crystal! It's scary how this place will warp your Rolex perspective. I was perfectly happy with my SD which was my grail but now I'm dreaming of 1680's, vintage GMT's and the list goes on.

Congrats Jamie
I would suggest a 5513 Sub if you can get one at a good price, there seem to be a few around at the moment. Alternatively, a GMT would make a nice change from the Submariner that you already own and you definitely can't go wrong with any GMT.
