I think carbon is different than carbon fiber? My new Tudor is carbon, it’s a type of steel. Not related to carbon fiber at all?

How deep?

I scuba dive and I think the deepest dive I did was around 30m. And I did it in my trust Seiko Monster…

That said just go with what you like! For me I would definitely keep one Submariner in my Rolex collection.

I dive and the deepest I have ever been is 657 feet.

Many watch makers are using carbon fiber in their cases. Girard Perregaux, Oris, IWC, Bulgari, Panerai, Formex, Shinola, Rich Mille, Bell & Ross, Casio, Hublot, Squale, Victorinox, Doxa, Luminox, etc.

These Tudor FXD watches are the first carbon fiber watches from either Tudor or its parent company Rolex.

That's deep.

Did you take a Rolex? (And did you take a light so you could take a photo?)

I’ve tried one of these on and it’s super light. A lot lighter than I thought.

[QUOTE=HiDive;13102790]I hope that Rolex never goes with Carbon Fiber; it is a poor choice for a watch case material IMO. Zero scratch resistance, no way to fix a scratch that can restore any loss of structural integrity, any threaded part will need to be glued into the body, lower strength in any axis, lower resistance to chemical or seawater damage, the bonding resin is degraded by UV light. Just an all around poor choice for a watch case material.[/QUOTE

Dang, initially I thought you were referring to ti. Need more coffee.

From the early 1970's to the 1980's and then again from 2017 to 2023 I was a Professional Diver. In the late 70's I was doing saturation work in the GOM and SA and hit this depth on one series of dives. Lights yes, cameras no. I rarely wore a watch in Sat but I owned an Aquadive at that time, and wore it on a couple of times.

Carbon isn't a steel, but it isn't carbon fiber either. Panerai does have a carbon composite material carbotech which is considered a steel.

I don't know too much about the FXD watches but I know for a fact it isn't carbon fibre, like carbon fibre parts on cars for example. The watch cases used by Rolex are a carbon composite material, similar to the ceramic bezels on dive watches.
It is much more dense and scratch resistant than carbon fibre.
