Different ROLEX - custom?

Would you pull the trigger on any of these? What is your opinion on companies that offer customized watches?

I'd rather go to Tag Heuer for these styles

And I don't do Tag Heuer

The subject has come up many times before and there is a huge difference between "modifying", which still uses all factory Rolex parts and "customizing" which sometimes uses fake parts, especially dials with the Rolex logo on it. These dials are not made by Rolex and unless they are licensed by Rolex are for all intensive purposes, still fake parts!

Each to their own but not for me! How to devalue a lovely Rolex is what sprigs to mind....

Only OEM for me. Besides, Tudor already does fancy fashion forward stuff like this. So if it suits my taste I’ll just wait for it from Tudor

Exactly. Reason why I'm staying away from buying a 5-digit ladies Rolex with Pearl diamond dials. All of them are "custom" and illegitimate dials.

I like the 5513 tribute (with a pip) but ya, not enough to own one or any custom regardless of the price.

No.

If I wanted something out there or like ‘high fashion’ horology - there are many options by Ulysse Nardin, Frank Muller, Corum that aren’t franken watches.

I think skeleton watches look bloody awful. I wouldn't say no to a Sly Dweller with a two tone GMT disk, but not the migraine inducing example above. If such a model came out in SS I would likely not live long enough to get it!

I’d remotely consider something custom, but tbh none of these would make me think twice.

Like the idea/look of some modified pieces, but couldn't justify the premium they try to charge. Couple that with the fact you could never get these serviced by Rolex directly and it is a hard pass.

I have no problem with any modifications as long as it can be easily converted back to original .

It stops being a rolex when a third party does anything to it so no. If I really really really wanted something unique I would design my own watch and get someone to make it but the above is IMO reckless

I am quite partial to the 5513 tribute. They’re silly money though...

As these are clearly no longer Rolex official watches moved to the non Rolex forum where they belong.

I have a really hard time grasping why somebody would want a 3rd party to mess with a perfectly fine Rolex and then pay a premium for it.
