Speedy is fast, when to service it?
My 10 year old speedy is running around +25s a day. Is it time for a service?

At 10yrs old, I would definitely get it serviced. That’s pretty much the limit for lubrication before it dries or otherwise breaks down.

For 10 yr old, get it pressure tested at the least. If water resistant goes, that's a costly repair.

Although service maybe needed in some cases it is unnecessary. If the watch was worn daily and wasn’t a safe queen then it may just be magnetized. I would think before you send it in for service you might want to take it in to the local omega boutique and have the run a test on it. It’s possible that it is magnetized. At +25 sec a day seems like it and souls be at most +10. Hope that helped.

I don’t have the luxury of having a local AD that can service etc they will have to send it away. So the other question would be do i use a local jewellers watchmaker (fixed a winding problem with my Tudor) or do i use an Omega trained watchmaker for a chronograph (the former has quoted £250 compared to the probable £500 or so for the latter).

That’s totally up to you. The Lemania movement has been around for quite a while, and is pretty welll-known among watch repair specialists. It’s hard to say without knowing more. Does your local watch technician have an Omega parts account? If not, I’d probably pass. Also, what does that 250 include? Is it just a service of the movement, or does it include crown, pushers, seals and pressure testing? Omega’s service factors in a lot of extras, including refinishing the bracelet and case (which may or may not interest you). I don’t know if your local watchmaker includes a two year warranty, but Omega does. That might be different in the UK, though. I’m located in the US.

I am going to ask what the service includes next week. Part of me thinks i should go with either the AD or the Omega accredited service centre. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The reason for this is the thorough checking and replacing of worn parts that Omega includes as standard procedure. Also, if the case and bracelet are ready to be refinished, then an Omega Service Center can usually be trusted to do a good job at this (it varies from center to center, of course). |

It’s a keeper. I had considered selling it last year but i can’t do it and has been on wrist most days since. There is a guy near where i live, Robert Reeves (don’t know if anyone here has used him) who has good reviews on google i think i might send it to. Not fussed about getting case and bracelet polished. I plan on getting in touch to see what is included in a service. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Did Omega jump up the pricing on services? I don't remember it always being $750. I thought it was around $450 or so. $750 could be a 1/4 of the cost of a 3570.50. If it was me, I would find a reputable watchmaker that could service. I would see if someone could demagnetize just to be sure before servicing.
