Grand Seiko Baselworld 2019 predictions?

This type of thread always ends up on the main Rolex forum but thought it would be interesting to hear if anyone has any real intel or guesses or wishes for GS this year. 2018 was the year I fell in love w GS, and I’m hoping for an exciting year. Beyond guessing a spring drive 20 year anniversary model(s), not sure what else could be coming.

I'm interested to see if Seiko does another LE heritage diver and a Pogue re-issue, and just happy to be pleasantly surprised by Grand Seiko.

I’m really hoping for a GS diver with a 9s.

I am sure there will be some kind of a high end platinum pieces.

After the GS 8 days, then it came the Platinum VFA, and then the limited platinum US edition, all retail over 50k USD, I would guess there is going to be another one of these watches this year.

Hoping for a chronograph to rival the likes of the daytona.

Always interesting to see what Basel holds for Seiko and GS.

I have just purchased my first Grand Seiko after much research and trying to learn about the brand. I am a fan and would be interested to see a classic chronograph of normal proportions and an interesting dial.

That's very nice William I have handled that USA LE at the GS dealer in Winter Park Florida. My wife owns the standard white Snowflake and loves it.

I would also love to see a 40mm chrono with unique dial. I think it would be a home run for GS.

I would like to see GS diver in more sane size: 41-42mm.
It's hard for me to understand why they're producing 44-47 sizes, especially while Japanese mostly have a narrow wrist.

Personally, I think the dial on their current sport chronographs already rival the Daytona, plus they add GMT. Superior quality and comparable aesthetics. The bracelets are polarizing though, and the cases are massive. If they were 5mm smaller, I'd already own one.

I'd like to see another King Seiko reissue, like they did back in 2000.

Spot on, it would be a milestone in the pricerange. A gatekeeper like the speedmaster and the El primero that would make it very hard to justify any other watch around the same price.

IMO they need to do everything under the Grand label they are trying to promote adding a king would be confusing to most.

I hope that they do another re-edition of the gorgeous 62GS Cases, such as in the LE Blizzard SBGA125.

And I also hope that they are modest with price increases.....

I don't think anyone got confused by having both brands in the 60s and 70s; I'm sure it would be fine a second time around.

Waiting to see what GS offerings are for this new year... kind of like waiting for Santa to come when I was a child!
It’s nice to have a “seasonal excitement “ as an adult.
I only hope that GS will keep their pricing reasonable, as to me , that’s something that gives them an edge against their comparable Swiss rivals.

Totally agree... SIHH and Baselworld are more exciting than the December holidays for me, it’s nice to have that cyclical anticipation as a grown-up. I suspect for a few years we won’t see any significant price increases on non-PM models as GS continues to disrupt the US/north-american market as the new kid on the block.

One thing I’m 100% sure on. Whatever ‘Anniversary’ issue or re-issue they put out, they’ll all be priced well over what I’d be prepared to pay.
