Need help negotiating with my AD
Hello all.
I'm looking to buy 2 watches from my local AD. A medium two tone Cartier Santos, and a Datejust 36 in stainless steel with a fluted bezel, a jubilee bracelet, and a white dial with Roman numerals. The Cartier Santos was available in the shop and retails for $9,100. On the other hand, the Datejust retails for $8,200 however my dealer would have to order me the watch and it would arrive in about 1-2 months. My AD told me that he would be able to give me a discount, but never mentioned how much. Does anyone know how much of a discount would be reasonable to negotiate for? I don't want to end up overpaying, but at the same time I don't want to insist on a high and unreasonable discount. Thanks. |

Where I am from I wouldn't be able to get anything off the Rolex. 10-15% off the Cartier.

Probably nothing on the Rolex. Maybe 5% if you are lucky, 10% if your AD REALLY likes you and short changes you on the cartier discount

I’d shoot for 10%. You may not get it though. Probably cheaper to buy the Cartier grey.

If you're paying full price on the DJ. I'm sure you can get at least 15 percent off on the 2 tone Santos. I would try for 20 personally.

Yesterday, I got $400 off on a brand new black dial Milgauss GV from an AD, plus they covered sales tax. My name is on the card, everything included. Love the watch.
No prior purchase history. AD is located in California. Great buying experience. So, this is still possible. |

I would tell you that the best you'll get discounted from a Rolex AD is about 5% on steel pieces (unless you know someone there who can pull some other strings for you). The Cartier should in theory be able to be negotiated to 15-20% off (in addition to the 5% on the Rolex) if they're in a tight pinch. My suggestion is like buying a car, go at the end of the month; we all have quotas to meet, hopefully the salesman you're dealing with is light on his numbers for the month lol.
