Vintage Parts No Longer Produced?
I've just had my 1966 Pepsi GMT 1675 on Jubilee bracelet valued at the AD to update my insurance. I've owned the watch from new (53 years) and have had it serviced regularly. After getting the valuation I raised the subject of when to get the next service done but the AD informed me that because of the age/vintage of my watch neither they (the AD) nor Rolex will now touch it because spares are no longer produced and their technicians are not trained to work on older timepieces.
Is this for real? And what do we vintage watch owners do about getting servicing and repairs? As it happens, my GMT is running perfectly at present so servicing isn't an imperative, but it would be good to know where to turn if work becomes necessary. I live in the north east of England - any suggestions/advice will be appreciated. Stan. |

Just go to one of the many independant watchmakers.
