Who here bought a new blue face RO from a boutique with NO purchase history?

Wondering if anyone on here successfully bought a blue face 15400 or 15500 Royal Oak from an AP boutique with no boutique purchase history?

Do boutiques care if your previous AP was from a dealer that lost their AP dealership and not a boutique? My 15300OR is my only AP. Ideally, if I wear my $31k rose gold AP into the boutique and ask to be put on the list for a blue dial will I be taken more seriously and able to get on the list?

You don’t even like AP blue dials. “Nouveau riche”...

I did. From AP Boutique in Elements Kowloon.

Got a 15400 in 2016. No purchase history. Even got a 5% discount.

I got the blue 15400 and have just received the message my blue 15500 will be available next week. Never bought anything else at AP. I do have a number of vintage pieces (incl two A series), and that helps.

In 2017 I walked into AP Beverly Hills with no purchase history and they had a 15400 blue for me on the spot. With that purchase history, I recently tried walking in to purchase or be put on a waitlist for a 26331st blue and they flat out said no. Had to go to a grey dealer and got super lucky, found one under list.

hilarious

And no the boutique doesn't care where you got your other watches. If its not from them might as well have gotten it from a grey dealer because AD history doesn't seem to matter.

I spoke to AP in London in Dec 2018 and asked to be put on the list for a 15400 blue dial (first AP purchase). Went in the next day, had a great chat and we got on well and shared some similar non WIS interests. Got the call 48 hrs later that he has one for me as his VIP customer hasn't responded. I walked into Brooks Mews 10 mins later to collect their last ever 15400! Sometimes you just genuinely connect with people, you are lucky and you're in the right place at the right time. I also believe in karma and 2 months earlier I passed up an opportunity to buy a SS white dial Daytona as I knew I wanted to make the move out of rolex into AP. My Rolex contact was literally speechless when I said "thank you for the offer but please make someone else's Christmas come early."

That's crazy. Just last August I got my blue ROC w/out purchase history from Bal harbour. I thought the chrono was still easy to get. Of course Bev Hills isn't supposed to be the friendliest of places.

The guys at Brooks Mews are amazing so that’s a big part of why you got the watch with no history.

Ash - the guys are amazing but we both know 1 particular guy who’s an absolute legend!! All our subsequent interactions, many of them via WhatsApp have been first class. I cant speak more highly of the ‘London’ team. Looking forward to my next piece!

Just to add my recommendation for London too. If it wasn't for Maria and then Daniel I'd have fallen out of love with AP, but now I'm smitten again.

The 'depth' of AP London runs deep and they are ALL lovely people to deal with.

p.s.

Francina at Bal Harbour was great too. Beverly Hills - not so much...

Lovely to hear, you had a great experience too. The only other place I have absolutely enjoyed my interaction is a place in NYC called material good. I think the guys name was Yoni. An absolute top bloke who took time to show us interesting pieces and engage in friendly banter with zero pressure to buy.

Bought a 15202ST from the Hong Kong IFC boutique in July 2017. Just walked in and they had one in the display case. The halcyon days when you could buy what you wanted without games, how I miss them!

Another London AD where I had this sort of experience was Arije. When the sales person saw that me and my buddies were all wearing APs he excused himself and went round the back to grab 3 or 4 tourbillon Offshores....again no pressure.

Thanks for the tip! Although those pieces are out of my price range, at least until i’ve paid my daughters school fees for many years to come! I’ve debated many times about selling off some of the Rolex collection for a nice profit (all bought at retail price) and buying another AP but I just cant do it. Each watch holds a lot of sentimental value (first career bonus, birthday, wedding, promotion etc). I’m thinking about a 38 chrono but the misaligned date window would annoy my OCD nature. I like the 39mm gold chronos and would wear it on a rubber strap in a heartbeat, just don’t know where to get a trustworthy piece. Any tips would be appreciated!

Got my 15202 blue dial last year from the Paris Boutique, no previous buying experience. Just added my name on the waiting list, paid 1/3 deposit, and +/- 5 months later they called me, the watch was available.
I don’t really know if I got lucky or this is the standard waiting time.

Good think i lucked out in HK months later.

Actually, the boutique also told me same thing initially. Already spoken for.

Pleaded my case: supposedly reserved for a local. since they expect one more next month, why not sell to me now and give next month to the local.

Worked in Hk. But not in sg.

Happy with the 15400 blue. My first (and so far only) AP.
