Glashütte Original Seventies Date blue dial

What do you guys think of this? In the days of not being able to get a Nautilus, this seems like a really cool alternative that doesn’t scream like the design was directly stolen like Piaget did.

Love the watch, have liked the design for years. If it sings to you get one.

I would point out that the design is inspired by the Spezichron from the 70s more than from the Nautilus.

Anyway this is a great reference on its own but it will never have the status of the Nautilus if you are after that.

I like Glashutte, but I think the Spezichron design was copied from Omega.

Good point. Do you know if the Omega was an original design? I am not trying to be confrontational, I am just curious. In the end it is just a rounded square case.

GO's Seventies isn't bad but I'd prefer the Omega above.

Girard Perregaux's Laureato is another blue sports watch that is affordable compared to any Nautilus.

I’ve the white dial and it’s a definite fave. GO makes very high quality pieces. I don’t compare it to the Nautilus or anything else, and think it stands on its own. Cool and elegant, and the big date with separate wheels for each digit is an impressive feature.

I would rather have a heated discussion than no discussion at all. That would be rather boring.

I do not know who originated the TV dial design. I am a vintage guy and have seen thousands of watches, and I associate it with Omega more than any other company.
Given the propensity for the communist block to copy Western Europe designs, I would assume it originated in Switzerland and not East Germany.
Looking at the dial designs the Omega's appear to have a earlier more conservative dial as well.

My friend owns the blue dial version of this GO and it is a beautiful watch. I really did not pay attention to this company until I saw that watch. I really like this brand due to that introduction.

OP, I forgot to mention that the current version of the 70s is the one with the blue date wheel (you also have a picture with the white date wheel).

For tonneau shape watches, it’s gonna be Parmigiani Fleurier Kalpa vs GO Seventies. Both are gorgeous at their own rights.
