Quite disappointing W&W releases, what mid year release can make rolex fans happier?

no hope for a gmt coke because tudor has just released one. how about a full gold date just 41mm on motif dial?

Well its been very disappointing over the past 24 years so no change this year, you could count on one hand the real 100% new models Rolex have released. As what Rolex does is just cosmetically change old ones, but today they only got to change bezel colour, dial, or even a few dial fonts then its a new watch to some.

Bring back the colorful OP dials, and I’d be a happy camper.

Since I have been following the new releases (about 10 years) this has been the most underwhelming. I like the platinum 1908 but that’s about it. I kinda like the new GMT and folks who way overpaid for Pepsi’s thinking they were discontinued have to be upset prices will slide significantly now.

Rolex can release more of the existing popular watches they had, and I think we’d all be happy!

Put a dial similar to the new 1908 one on a SS DJ41 (fluted with jubilee)

I agree - lots of missed opportunities here in my view. Rolex will still be fine and won't care, but I can't help but think it will damage the brand slightly in today's "faster" culture where we expect something new constantly, whether Rolex like it or not.

It begs the question, what exactly does the R&D department at Rolex actually do all year...? This isn't what I would say is innovative (not that it ever is any other year)

They will argue the YG DSSD was something no one saw coming, and for good reason , and then the GRNR will still be popular as all SS GMTs are now, but they might do a mid year release of a right VTNR now, esp as there will be alot of disappointment in these releases, just about the poorest I can remember, as they may need to bump interest in Rolex again soon.

I think Coke will all be set and primed for next year now, they can't have 2 WW flops in a row. Only good thing about this year's release.

Very underwhelming but I think Rolex are entirely happy with the line up - why reinvent the wheel?

Where is the GMT coke? The GRNR is barely bi coloured at all!

A gold deep sea?! These will be like hen’s teeth. Probably weighs as much as a small puppy.

Tudor could have nailed it - but as ever just not quite as good as could’ve been. Gilt coke? So close.

I do often wonder that myself.

Yes I know that maybe once a decade we get a new movement from Rolex if we're lucky, but on years like this it's basically a parts-bin-raiding "mix and match" exercise of existing bezels, dials, cases and bracelets, or an existing model made in a different metal. Zero innovation, zero effort. (Or at least that's what it looks like).

Nothing wrong with that per se for a random ad-hoc release, but for an entire years' worth of flagship R&D......? Hmmmmm, I'm not convinced.

I think it was a case of, "OK lads, that W&W 2023 done and dusted. Let's knock out next years' designs by this Friday, and have the rest of the year off. Sound good?"

I bet 99% of people who buy Rolex have no idea what Watches and Wonders is, nor when or how often Rolex releases new variant if its watches.

Yes haha. Hopefully this is a lesson, don’t buy into the used watch dealers looking to profiteer off a fake rumor

I really don't like their new website. Looking through all of the new releases was so much more convenient before.

I know of a grey in Canary Wharf, London who was sitting on a bunch of Pepsis. I would be keen to know how he manages to liquidate these pieces at a sizeable margin

If the production is going to remain low on the Pepsi, even without it being discontinued, it may still demand a hefty premium. I don’t think the values will change much on them, if at all.

This might be the first year that I do not see anything that interests me. Tudor is just as bad.

Happy I won’t be spending any money with Rolex this year. Although I do like the sky dweller and the new bracelet.
