Red One

What is the point of the red "1" on the calendar wheel on many of the new models. It is on the 5320G and 5740G and who knows what else. Personally I do not care for it. It breaks up the flow of the dial to me.

I'd say quick visual reference for month beginning date at the top of date wheel. Small wheel crowded at the top.

5712, 5960 1A, 5524G have it also. If you ask PP why something is a certain way they’ll tell you “design decision”.

My guess is because the 31 and 1 are so tight together they chose a different color to give separation to the two numbers.

Yup, makes sense to me. Would look odd if they didn't make it red....

A little red accent on the dial is nice.

One of the design issues with pointer dates is resolving the 31-1 transition. This is a nice way to separate the two.
