A real beauty 1962 GMT

I obtained this today from my Rolex AD who had it on consignment: a 1962 1675 GMT Master.

Since the dial is marked “Swiss”, I am thinking the dial is not original to the watch of 1962. Thank you for any thoughts.

It has replacement hands and bezel insert. Lidditz did a complete service for the AD.

The SN is 694996. Waiting on the appraisal from dealer.

The picture of today is with my cell phone camera and the other is by the dealer’s better photo skills.

What do you think the dial should say in 1962? And what are your thoughts about the insert and hands?
(Edit: I see you've updated the OP with info about insert and hands.)

An appraisal from the dealer who is selling the watch is worth exactly zero.

Should not it have the tritium marking at 6’oclock instead of “Swiss” ? This was what I found in most photos of that era.

PS the dealer said the bezel insert and hands are replacement.

I get appraisals for insurance purposes since my carrier requires one to insure a watch.

Google 1962 GMT 1675 "Chapter ring" dial and you'll see plenty of SWISS only dials

You need to be precise in the context of the early 60s, because things were changing quickly.

There are many good references about Rolex dials. Here is a starting point for the 1675: https://gmtmaster1675.com

It's a mk3 SCOC correct for your srl number - The right prong of coronet stick out a fraction on this mk. should lume up under UV for just a few secs and decline to next to nothing over a few more seconds

It has ElCornino PCG case also correct as pre 1 million.

There is some dial-rub from overly close GMT hand near centre of course.

Congrats.

Now with a correct GMT hand and a Rolex insert later in time, on a Feres Swiss Rivet bracelet 7206 made in 1967 with 58 end but looking much better now.

I was going to say I see the Swiss in these examples as well. I love the dark blue insert, really pops off the watch. Sharp example.

I really don't get it with people and getting appraisals from jewelers/AD's. What is the point? Especially for a watch that is not original.

Just wear and enjoy it if you like it.

Edit - sorry I see he got it for insurance purposes. Nice watch still.

Would this watch benefit by replacing the hands with flat hands period correct? This watch is a daily wearer and sourcing period correct flat hands could be done, or not?

That's going to be pretty difficult and very costly - Gerhard (Xeramic) has been looking for an unmolested gilt/flat set for 3 yrs to no avail.
There are lots of relumed ones out there too.
I'd personally enjoy it as it is, unless a cheap set pop up!
