At least he’s taking a break from bashing on Panerai (sort of).

Wow. Just fantastic reporting as always, José.
Curious, does Hodinkee, or Clymer, ever respond to Perez’s articles? As damning as they are, not replying/defending himself is even more damning.

If you look at his Jose’s Instagram page (coincidence it keeps being taken down?) you’ll see a couple of well-known dealers commenting.

Is he persona non grata at major watch events and auctions?

He basically bashes all the sacred cows in that world.

I think “exposes” is more accurate.

Always enjoy these. Ridiculous the auction world doesn’t change and just keeps perpetuating it all really.

He catches them all

I must agree with the useful idiot. Hodinkee is of course not a serious blog.

In bed with Hoodwinky and the Fauxineer !

Should be a new Netflix fly-on-the-wall black comedy ....

But seriously, these alleged serial occurrences of things, needs to incurr dire consequence, surely, if they are correct/proven

We had all this in the vintage car game about 30 years ago - I very nearly got caught on a vintage Maserati (talked up at a prestigious Auction), and that was being sold by serial fraudster (and friend of Royalty) Lord Brocket...the car wasn't what it claimed to be !

Hi did jail time ...his wife shopped him too!....worthy of a film too I'd say ! Worth a read too :

Major concerns about independent journalism. It does not exist at most of the larger pages and Hodinkee has not been a serious page in years since they sold out. Not blaming anyone but you have to read these articles with a grain of salt and understand who is paying the bills, the watch companies. Jose is great and well researched.

Guess they're only able to get away with this because Rolex is so secretive about their archives.

PP, AP, VC all release their info if you pay for it so it's hard to stamp fake serial numbers or mix and match things.

That’s quite the story. Thanks for sharing.

There seems to be more and more of this in the collector car world anymore. I suppose with anything where rarity and value are concerned there’s always someone with bad intent looking to capitalize on it.

Every collector market of anything has its fraudsters. And speaking of fraud and Netflix, watch the 2016 film "Sour Grapes" about the collector wine market. A lot of parallels with the bad guys in the vintage Rolex world.

Sour Grapes was a corker (slight pun intended), thanks....
