'Island Hopper' patina dials ...

Thought I'd seen it all.... but this gilding of the lily is quite something else !

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/404708640...mis&media=COPY

Anyone got an even more ridiculous dealer description ?

Oh and of course, show us your 'Island Hopper' dialed watches too pls.

It's not unattractive in the super wabi way, but that's kind of a foolish name, right? I really don't know what to say. Part of that is because I haven't had any coffee yet.

It is what happens to nearly every blue dial of the era, that one is just to the extreme. Another way of marketing a damaged dial.

Looks like it was possibly found by divers in between the islands wrapped around a coral head. Lets not forget the 16753 Lava Dials, which I actually find to be quite attractive. That said, does the damage ever stop?! https://www.shucktheoyster.com/portf...753-root-beer/

Very creative. I agree with linesiders, it's actually kinda funky in that weathered vintage guitar sort of way.

"The white gold surround "Zorro" dial is excellent showing an extensive and even pattern of "tropical camo" across its surface."

I do like some of these dials with even patina. However, It's kind of like adding sugar to butter on low heat. Nicely caramelized after a bit but a blackened mess if you cook it too long. The question which cannot be answered, yet, is will they eventually reach an equilibrium and stop mutating or do they continue to degrade? I do like the Zorro, nice case too! Hahahahha!
