It's surprising watchmakers haven't stormed Geneva with torches and pitchforks over that...

Hey All:
Anyone in need of an NOS twin-lock case tube and crown ? http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROLEX-origin...item35dba56e7b These are pretty rare if you need it for a restoration (as this thread has already mentioned). Hope it goes to a good home for a fair price.

I see lots of ebay bashing on TRF but I find it to be a pretty goos source for parts...

I agree about eBay; there are lots of crooks and counterfeits out there, but if you know your stuff, it's a great resource. Because the site lists rare parts from all over the world, you have a good chance of actually finding what you're looking for....not to mention I have made some new friends in the process! In the past 2 months I have bought 2 watches from the UK that I never saw for sale here in the USA.... Life is good; be safe.

Thanks Mike....
Yes, it worked out well, and I even have an extra crown/tube/stem stashed for the next vinage Sub project! Get them while you still can!

Great thread and a beautiful watch. My thoughts on Rolex crowns is that everyone gets all uptight about the 300m rating of the Triplock crown. I have my PADI advanced open water qualification and that qualifies me down to 40m. 200m vs. 300m really makes no odds. I used to wear my citizen dive watch as a backup to my dive computer, but never needed it! Personally, if I was buying a vintage Rolex I'd want it with the original period parts.

Old Valjoux column wheel movement in the Chrono??? Glad your sub situation sorted. Quite the journey. Vintage is a fun game to play and sometimes very frustrating. I agree on keeping it 100% original. Especially if it will never see the water. Which, this would handle to an extent. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
