Always liked the Monaco.
I feel like they are bigger in Asia, especially South Asia. I know a lot of people in India and Pakistan and they love Tags. |

I like the new Autavia on a leather strap too, but at 42mm it's a bit too big for my taste.

Pre-TAG is great. I watched a lot of racing growing up in 70’s-80’s and HEUER was on everyone’s suits.
88, first trip to Europe I was bound to get a Swiss watch, and Heuer was top of my list. In the store in Salzburg is where I discovered TAG. I bought my first real watch- a Tag Heuer 2000 Quartz chronograph. I still have it. |

I think the Autavia and Monaco look great, but that's about it. Resale value may be one of the reasons they're not incredibly popular :)

I have got quartz Tag Aquaracer and it is a workhorse I use to go to beach etc. I really like Autavia and Carrera Calibre 17 - link from TAG Heuer website.

Lack of interest in Tag
Quote:
I have a WAK2110 Aquaracer which is really nice and well made. Other than that the Heuer reeditions are awesome. These include the two register Carrera, Monza, Autavia. The Monaco I can take our leave. Being "life experienced", as a very young lady, all the Formula 1 and drivers were about Heuer and tge drivers wore Autavias. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

In about 1990 I bought a TagH "Professional 1000-WR200 Quartz" It was a second watch to my Rolex 16800 Sub.
About 10 yrs ago I wanted to have it serviced and contacted Tag customer service. I was informed that they no longer had parts, and would not service the watch....and that I should just buy a new one. No kidding. That was the end of any thoughts I ever had of buying a new Tag. BTW, I've serviced (changed the battery) many times since then, and it still works fine, although there is actual rust and pitting on the case, especially just below the bezel. |

It is unfortunate, but that’s the way of Tag these days. Actually, it’s been that way a long time. My 2000 chronograph suffered the same fate- too old to service. Regardless of the fact that the movement (tractor) can be had new for under $50 and the module is used by many manufacturers. They just can’t be bothered.

Expensive for what it is, and LVMH hardly stands behind the product

I guess that would depend on how carefully one buys, doesn't it? But I'm a bit curious as to which of the following you believe has the best support? Swatch, Richemont, LVMH, Kering? Or only independent companies?

Not so fast folks. As a hard core Rolex man, I wasn't much of a TH fan either but two things made me re-think my position:
In the late 80's a friend bought a Tag which, even then, didn't impress me. It was a 'Sub Style' quartz movement with a black case & bracelet and a fairly boring dial. Air King equipped as I was I really didn't think much of it at the time. (The quartz mvt was the kiss of death to me) Later that winter, in a drunken stupor, he lost it figuring he'd never see it again. In his 'circle' it was a luxury item so he was devastated. (I felt bad too, losing a pricy watch is always a bad thing.) Springtime, about 5 months later, he's getting ready to BBQ some chow, looks down and sees the bracelet clasp poking out of some melting snow and mud. Make no mistake, it was *covered* in mind and slush. But, it was running and only something like 20 seconds off! Quartz or not, up here in Canada it gets very cold. I know cold weather makes batteries go 'wonky' and the amount of metal contraction/expansion must have been severe. He had the broken springbar replaced (prolly the cause of the incident) and when serviced the mvt was given a clean bill of health. To summarize: that's a testament to good quality workmanship. (And colossal good fortune!) The other anecdote is that my brother, fellow WIS in training, bought a Cal 12 blue Monaco last year. Features the sumptuous blue dial & exhibition back on SS *solid link* bracelet. Looks gorgeous and, get this, keeps time to -3 / +4 COSC specs. Can't ask for much better than that. Here's a pic of a similar model. (Below) So, I'm never going to be a Tag Huer devotee, but they certainly can deliver when they put their minds to it. (Or, my Bro got lucky) Thanks for reading, Mark Sent from my SM-A520W using Tapatalk |

I've got a number of Omegas and one Breitling is enough for me. The Monaco is a pretty interesting watch from a historical pov. It was the first self winding Chronograph. The movie Le Mans made it famous. I really think it's is a thing of beauty. No real interest yet in going after another TH but I'm not turning my nose up at them either. Haven't tracked the timing yet as that isn't a bid thing for me with the way I wear watches.

I guess I should’ve mentioned I wasn’t interested in more recent or modern Tags. Some of the older vintage ones are beauties for sure ... |

Gold plating for one.
And a decent Tag will still set you back ~$4K. Plus when I’d been looking at the Aquaracer line, there were known issues with the crown stripping and they only sometimes repaired under warranty. But the playing is the reason I waited and stepped up to Rolex. |

I actually like Tag heuer a lot. Before the Rolex, tag and Breitling were on my wishlist.
Lots of history and workmanship. And not all that long ago, prices were more inline. I've rewarded myself with one and bought one for my husband. He's wearing his 20 something your old one right now as the Tudor is skipping dates. I really like Monza too, one of my favorites.

I think theres a few brands heading south in terms of brand perception.
Tag and Breitling are the two main ones there, i dont think either will recover either. These two brands will never be cool again. |

I've owned six TAGs over the years. My first Swiss watch was a TAG. I like the brand but I think they're overpriced at retail. If you can get one at 50% off you're getting a good watch for the money. The problem is that they don't seem to age too well except for a few particular models.
This was a 1 year anniversary gift from my wife. https://www.instagram.com/p/BnEb-8fH...=1pyuw3xkh6unw

I had a very similar watch from the 1980s
Mine had that granite look. But it was very small, was not wearing it, gave it to my niece, never saw her wear it, must be sitting in her drawer instead of mine. My first pretty good watch.

Love my only tag. First auto chrono, first water proof square case, super rich in auto racing, worn by Steve McQueen, diversifies any collection, etc.
