First Time Buyer at AD: Some Questions
I normally always buy watches second hand as I typically buy vintage watches or rarely if its a modern peice I'll wait to avoid the often massive depreciation a first time buyer gets hit with. This has changed having seen the Panerai Luminor Due 38mm (PAM755) release at SIHH, I'm smitten and pretty much resigned to the fact I'll need to head to an AD.
I've read about the hype surrounding recent Rolex releases and I'm wondering if it can be similar for Panerai: 1. Do new releases often have large waiting lists at ADs? 2. Do ADs often offer discounts on brand new releases? (I've read boutiques don't, best is normally a strap thrown in) 3. Do you expect much hype around this watch? 4. How quickly do watches normally flow through to 2nd hand markets? 5. Does the country you purchase effect any of the above (I can buy the watch in Austrlaia or UK)? |

do you have a relationship with an ad? if not you might get a small discount as opposed to larger one if you had a good relationship with one.
since these won't be exclusive boutique editions they should be readily available at ad’s starting later this year about 1/2 of my collection has been bought from boutiques the other half on the secondary market, at first there might not be a lot of wiggle room but the prices will come down good luck
