I've never let my 328 run down nor have I ever wound it. (When I'm not wearing it, its on a winder)

I finally let it run down over the course of the last couple days which I don't believe was near 3 days and concerned me. But even more alarming to me was as I wound the watch, it felt very rough to wind---Is this normal?

It doesn't feel like anything is grinding but the resistance would vary on and off per winding cycle. I don't want to mess up the movement so please give me your feedback

How old is your watch and what kind of winder do you have? Maybe the specs on the winder would help....oh, and you found one that fits a PAM??

You can't overwind a mechanical watch. There's a clutch inside that prevents this. Try listening closely to it when winding and wait for louder clicks. This will let you know when it's fully wound. I'd let it power down completely and then give it a full manual winding.

Resistance from the crown when winding really is different from watch-to-watch. In fact, you could have one serviced and it may feel different than when you first bought it. My 312 is different that my 243....

While I was winding, I held it up to my ear and hear it winding but the feel of the crown between my fingers feel very odd. It has a "thumpy" feel if that makes sense. Maybe I'll bring it to the boutique tomorrow.

As far as a winder, I purchased a rotolution winder. Its fully programmable via USB and yes, the factory pillows fit a 44mm panerai perfectly.

rr-nyc, I had the same issue ( I even mentioned here I think). My pam312 winding feels rough as you say. Not smooth and click'y like other watches. I checked another pam312 at the boutqiue (within a month of purchasing mine) and found it to be the same. Several months later, I tried winding another pam312 at the boutique and it felt smooth and free. I guess our movements/winding mechanisms had some sort of flaw and apparently its been fixed now. Im hesistant to let them open it up. Its been working fine, keeping perfect time. So let it be.

I wouldn't worry either and as Saif says, best to let it be - maybe it will be sorted come service time.

Thanks... Its kind of annoying though, don't you think? I'm hoping that it will become smooth as time goes on rather than waiting for service time to come around to fix it. I'll compare it to other 312/328's when I pick up my new strap from the AD

Similar to what Bryan said, my Breitling came back to me after service and it wound differently than before it went in for service which was even harder for me to take. It went back in wice to fix but I'm stuck with it

It wont get smooth haha. I mean I have had mine since August and have honestly not needed to wind it up more than say 10 days in the past 5 months or so but every time its been the same. I dont think it will "loosen" up with time and if does then I will be worried as it seems they built the movement this way from the start and may require servicing/new parts to get it to wind freely as the newer pam312s.

Pass by the AD and try winding other 312s and 328s. But be sure to check the production number on the back. Mine is from the first 100 I think (# 16 if im not mistaken either) and I am assuming that watches close to ours in production will be the same where as watches in the maybe 500s and up will be different.

Not good news for me... Mine is a L0XX/1000. Technically, mine was made after yours so it makes me wonder

You will feel that the stem is about to break & the resistance is very very high torque....it's normal.

Was doing some research and came across this thread...I just acquired a 312 last week and it is winding the same way as described here. Any chance that you guys have resolved this issue? Should I just wait for it to smoothen out?
