The 10K Battle

The new Vacheron 56 collection really ups the game for the entry level of high horology.Great name and movement for a 10k watch that you can wear every day.

The Lange Saxonia thin will have some competition with this line in my opinion.Although the Lange might represent better value with a gold case and possibly a better-finished or equally well-finished movement.

Great time for buyers, lots of great watches coming at more affordable prices.

I agree looks like a smart line, the Complete Calendar looks particularly nice, a throwback to the fifties.

If I can be a buzzkill I kind of feel it’s aesthetically unpleasant and has an outsourced movement. The opposite of the Lange.

This one made my SIHH list. I haven’t learned my lesson from my last 2
VCs.

Without the VC logo the fiftysix could have belonged to any brand, the pieces just don’t fit. What they should have done was to offer an existing line in SS instead to get the price down instead of risking the whole brand (and stop with the insanely complicated show pieces). The Lange feels still very much like a Lange. Different strategies I guess.

I was very excited til I realized the complete calendar wasn’t an AC. Love the look.

The Traditionelle is even nicer, now in RG. Would also like to see something like this at Rolex too, as a throwback, like the 8171, think it would do better than the Cellini.

Can't compare that VC 56 to a Lange. Please do not drag Lange to that level ;-)

I had read on multiple sources that all three were in-house calibres, but the simplest of the trio just lacked the Geneva Seal. What's the true story here?

Simplest isn’t in-house. It’s a Richemont Group movement and lacks the Geneva Seal.

Indeed

For me the real deal killer is the undersized movement. And furthermore...why not just give us a 1921 in SS for 18-20k and call it a day. This looks like some of the recent JLC mistakes I’ve seen lately...

I think making a current version at 10k would be seen as disrespectful to previous buyers. The ALS is widely available for 10K now so it didn't seem to have worked for them as well.
I think VC, ALS have done the right think by making a new segment and it will affect others like JLC, Blancpain, IWC. I'd certainly go for a VC annual calendar over a Blancpain or JLC or IWC is the price was the same.

Ah, okay. Thanks.

I like the day-date-power reserve model. I won’t buy it, but it’s not a bad timepiece.
