Need some sensible Input

Happy Friday everyone!

For the past couple of months I have been contemplating selling some of my watches and getting one nice watch. Some might say its a sensible thing to do given you cant wear all of them at once, others might say one rather have a bigger collection than one nice watch. Hence you see my quandary.

So given you guys are passionate about Rollies, what would you recommend?

I am considering selling the following watches
- Rolex GMT BLNR
- Omega Grey Side of the Moon
- Breitling Navitimer 01 46mm (Aurora Blue Dial)

to fund
- Rolex Rose Gold Sky-Dweller (Chocolate Arabic Dial)

I wont be using the SD as a daily beater, as I still have some other watches left over but if you were in my situation, what would you do? I guess the thing I like about the SD is the size, I got a 7 inch wrist, and the complications. I do travel for work so like the GMT function. I think date is very important in a watch. The monthly calendar, I mean its great to have but if you dont know what month it is, then we have a bigger issue

So gentlemen and ladies, what would you recommend? I wish I could keep all and buy a SD but I think my marital status would change afterwards.

It's all about what makes you happy in the end. That said I've had as many as 8 in the collection and currently have one. Differences between collecting and just wearing as well. Follow your gut and do what makes you smile. I've always said I can't own them all at once...but I can own them all once. :-)

Go for it. I consolidated my collection from 6 Rolex down to 4 and bought my BLRO. This was over a year ago and I couldn't be happier.

+1, this is about right, although I love my BLNR so I'd have a hard time parting with it, not the other two on your list though. Anything else you could consider parting with than the BLNR? But then again if you don't mind getting rid of it then it sounds like a good plan and plus the SkyD is also a gmt too so no worries there.

I've sold and p/x watches to get something better so it's not a bad thing to do, for you to achieve another goal.

All the best!

The other option I am considering is selling -

Omega GSOT
Breitling Navitimer
Daytona 116520

and getting a Rose Gold Daytona 116505. I really want a precious metal in my collection and think I rather go with Rolex than any other brand.

I'd dump those is a heartbeat to get the SD. The Breitling and Omega would go for sure, I am also thinking of selling my BLNR as well so I get where you are coming from.

I say go for it. I consolidated myself a while back. Is the SD on bracelet or strap? I'm sure the SD will get a lot more wristime than the others you're selling/trading.

Yeah I am leaning more towards selling the Omega GSOT/Breitling Navi and just buying the SD.
I feel like the BLNR is just too beautiful to sell.

Sell the Breitling and Omega, keep the BLNR, and get the SS Skydweller with blue or black dial.

Go for the SkyD, SD is a sea Dweller. Or SS SkyD and keep BLNR.

Less is more, so long as you're certain on the SkyDweller. You'd take a hit if you decide it's not for you ...

I don't see anything wrong with this plan....and I am a big fan of the Speedy and BLNR as well so the bias is there. It just seems like you thoughts this out and figured out a watch that makes sense for your bigger wrist and a complication that fits your lifestyle. I say sell them and buy and be happy. Enjoy that new watch when it comes, share shots please.

If the Sky D sings to you, you should follow your plan. I would struggle a little with everyday wear, so might sell the three you have, grab the Sky D in PM or SS and a 114060 for a daily--or something similar to that approach.

Rolexforum always a good place to come for sensible input = sell all except the Rolex of the 3

Go for it! Sky-D in PM feels amazing on the wrist and it is a lot of fun playing with the movement. I have the ivory WG on bracelet and wear it all the time.

Btw, the month indication is there so that you can set the date correctly -- not because people forget the month. It is absolutely essential on an AC watch.

aaahh, I didnt know that. I thought youd still have to correct the dates for shorter months.

I was so excited to find out that Rolex decided to come out with a SS SkyD but then over the next few days the watch started looking more and more like a 41mm Datejust.

The SS SkyD markers look very similar to a datejust. Also the GMT inner ring almost matches the color of the dial - giving it less of a two tone contrast.

You need to correct it only at the end of Feb ... rest of the year it works fine. See the jump from Sep 30 to Oct 1:

Besides selling the 3, you'd also have to add serious cash on top, right?
