Gotta love the “Pogue” Automatic Chronograph...

I’ve been meaning to add one of these Seiko 6139-6002 “Pogue” Chronographs to my collection for quite a while.
Such a cool vintage watch with the “70’s vibe”. IMO there should be a place in any watch collection for one of these classics.
This one is sure to get significant wrist time with me.

Yep. Fantastic style. I already regret selling mine and it’s only been a few months!

I was watching the old 70's TV show "Cannon" and noticed the main character wearing a Pogue.

I'm gonna have to get one eventually.

Read somewhere it's the FIRST real chronograph worn by some Colonel Pogue in space.

Historical

It's about +USD$1000. now me thinks.

Cheers

Love my 1973 blue dial version. Don't know mine's service history but it runs like new. There should be one in every collection.

Very nice! If Seiko doesn’t reissue Pogues, they are asleep at the wheel.

That's a winner! You have all the markings making it a true example. Fantastic Christmas gift. Someone was listening to you. Beats a pair of socks and new pajamas (which is what my girlfriend's mother got me).

I love to look at this watch online. But the 3 times I have bought one they have not clicked with me. Cool watch.

I've found the same thing with a few other vintage Seikos. I had a 6106-8000 (70m diver) and got to try on a 7016 chronograph. I think the sizes on my wrist were just... off.

My 6105-8000, though, is sized perfectly.

The asymmetrical does fit the best out of the 6105's. Personally the 6309's are the ones that work best for me.

I too was looking at these for a bit. There are a lot of frankin-Pogue's out there too. Research is definitely recommended. The 6002 is considered the true Pogue as that was worn on the Apollo missions. Unauthorized by NASA.

Yes, many aftermarket Frankens. I have researched extensively what to look for and found a 6139-6002 on eBay from a guy in Britain. Nice unpolished case, clean original dial/bezel insert, original bracelet, and scratched crystal which I bought a new one for.

A true Pogue has to have all the following dial attributes: “WATER 70m RESIST”, “AUTOMATIC” under the Seiko logo, “17J.” and the Suwa logo under the hands. A true Pogue is the 6139-6005.

Mine says "CHRONOGRAPH AUTOMATIC" and no “WATER 70m RESIST” or "17J" so it's not a true Pogue. But still a wonderful looking watch.

True Pogues go up to 3 times what I paid. Not worth the money for me.

Here is Pogue's "Pogue" (courtesy from Plus9Time website)

The original yellow insert turned white from the sun. You can see the wrong sub seconds hand was installed some time during a service. He serviced it twice in it's lifetime with him. Also, an aftermarket bracelet was installed. He wore the hell out of it for decades after his mission before it was auctioned off in 2008. You can see all the proper dial markings.

Who is on board for Seiko to reissue the Pogue? Note to Seiko: it would sell like hot cakes.

Most definitely. Count me in without hesitation as long as they don’t put that stupid giant “X” logo on the dial.

Great bracelet Dan I think that style is the best on this 6139 reference.

I have an Uncle Seiko version for my SpeedTimer.

I get nauseated every time a Pogue thread comes up. I owned this one and foolishly sold it some years back. It was basically NOS with the original box and papers. It was still wearing the original case back sticker.

I must stop clicking on these threads.

Thanks!

It's a cheap aftermarket bracelet I had that really doesn't match the end links. The Uncle Seiko looks awful tempting. I assume you like it?
