Hi,

There you go!
Here is the positive outcome of the case. The watch has been serviced by RSC in Kent UK via Goldsmiths in Nottingham. It has been over 10 weeks of waiting.

Thank you again for everyone who helped me with this.

And some pictures :)

Well done on getting it sorted.

If people who sell these dials are reading this... don’t place a watch dial face down onto your bare hands! Crazy for an expensive dial (I wouldn’t even do it to a £10 timex let alone a Rolex gloss dial)

Very good, well done and great effort getting all the correct parts. Proved all the doubters here wrong!

I don’t want to start anymore conspiracy theories.

But if you’ve waited 10 weeks for the watch to be serviced from RSC, why is the warranty card dated 30 Oct 19. I thought the card would have been dated the day the service was completed, but that date is 6 weeks ago.

I agree, this is confusing. This is the date I confirmed to proceed with the service (having the estimate provided). Theoretically I have 2 months less of the service period.
Anyway, I am happy with that

This sounds like a positive outcome. It looks great. I’m always amazed at how well they look once get it back from RSC.

Can you provide a recap of what you did? You bought and installed authentic Rolex Kermit parts and then sent everything to Rolex for a service? Is that right.

Would it have been cheaper to just buy the Kermit?

To recap:

1. I bought 16610 on Watchfinder
2. Sent the watch to RSC to be serviced
3. RSC refused the service on the basis that the watch has been modified (16610LV turned into 16610)
4. I bought the original parts of 16610LV and installed
5. Sent the watch to RSC to be serviced
6. The watch has been serviced

For those who are interested: all of the above it was less than £10k (including service)
Was it worth? …. I think so

I also don’t want to perpetuate any conspiracy theories....but warranty cards are dated at the end of service when the invoice is generated, not the date of proceed.

Also bezel has been changed.

Small mark by 0 of 30 before service.

No mark after service.

Dial and bezel replaced at service?

The date on the card still makes no sense

I thought the same thing.

But, in post 133, OP replies to my post asking for an overview of what’s been done. He doesn’t mention the second swapping out of the dial or bezel by Rolex.

He also says that the all-in cost for everything is less than $10k. Is it possible for the all-in cost of the watch, two sets of parts, and a full service to be less than $10k.

Just subscribing as I have bugger all to do today and having read though the whole thread I am interested in the out come.

Will all be proved to be well and the watch returned to its true form or will a tale of duplicitous dastardly deeds be uncovered by the TRF detective agency.

Dial and Hands, but the price.... very high :(

I would be happy to buy even damaged dial, but genuine one (and have it for exchange in RSC).
This doesn’t make sense to me. If you send a watch in that is fitted with the wrong parts, they will want to make it right. Buying the correct parts first seems like an unnecessary step. For example...if you send a watch in with a modified dial, they will want to change back to the correct original version.
Why would you need to purchase hands and dial?

I did on the original post before OP had corrected us about his photoshopping of the number. D888888 would indeed be worth a king’s ransom in this part of the world.

I know this is a long thread but I bought the parts here on TRF (original dial and hands) and bezel insert (from TRF user on ebay).

I had to because as you find earlier in the thread, RSC said they will not replace parts in 16610LV unless the parts are for 16610LV because they are supplied with such parts from Geneva on exchange basis only.

That is why I bought the used parts and put these to the watch.

During the service quote I was provided with "...to replace the damaged dial and hands £485...". This plus cost of service was £1040.
I was aware of that and that was my intention since the beginning.

Rolex has replaced dial and hands. As you noticed this is D6 dial (service dial?) I am not sure about the used dial I bought here (D4 or D5).

I am not about bezel insert. I think it has not been replaced during service. I was not informed about it. Would they do that for free?
Regarding earlier photos (on the wrist) with the used parts assembled, I think it was just dust particle near 30 minutes mark.

OP, you have a gorgeous watch now. As long as you’re happy with it and you have a clear conscience the. Don’t worry. If this all played out as you say, then your handsome little Kermit has a chequered but interesting history that will hopefully endear it to you even more.

(starts feverishly looking through adverts for another one.....)
