Been contemplating getting one of these myself. For the price and with its functionality, look and desirability, I think it’s one of the best value Rolex sports watches out there.

After seeing both in the wild, personally the black dial appeals more to me. That orange GMT hand just pops on the black.

Good luck in your hunt.

I personally like the 216570 design, and for a 42mm, it wears comfortably, equal to my Moonwatch Pro and better than my Black Bay 41 (top heavy). Short waiting time too!

Try find one at AD otherwise you pay slight premium nowadays.. I payed in june 2018 6500 for a brand new stickered one.. But these days are gone.

Black n white both cool watches
White add some specialty but black would be perfect as only watch .. I was in a AD last weekend and i got a compliment on it as in hey this one you don't see so much. Cool watch better than anyone who wants the same Rolex he said gnaga..

Prices are about the same I think give or take, just buy a minty one wherever you can. The Polar dial is a beauty and will be the one in your collection that will stand out in the sea of black.

I bought new from my AD, it’s worth every penny at MSRP.

I bought the polar and loved it so much, I bought the black dial a few months later when one came in. Both keepers-

its so nice, i bought it twice. one in luminova 16570, sel, no engraved rehaut and a tritium hollow end link watch with slowly developing patina. In my eyes, the watch is practically indestructible. The bezel can not be popped off or broken off. Similar to the explorer 1 which is even more of a work horse. Unfortunately my wrist is too small and I lack the real estate for the 216570 but fortunately not a fan of the maxi case maxi dial beefed up 6 digit serial line.

Personally I'd always go AD as I appreciate the provenance of the watch, and it feels all the better having not donned anothers wrist.

Yes I will go this route. Seems like it's almost the same price as buying a preowned anyway nowadays.

I picked up a 216570 (black dial) pretty soon upon release back in the days of course when you could still walk in to an AD and walk out again with one. I really liked the way it looked and sat on my wrist, though I could not get used to the case width ......it felt wider than my Speedmaster PRO though in reality there is probably not much difference. Ended up moving it on though maybe shoudl have given it a bit more time. Anyway, would still recommend it or indeed the 16570, maybe polar for me next time out!

Got a new black dial from an AD earlier this month. I did get a discount... only $200, but reasonable.

I bought my 16710L used, naturally, as it's discontinued, but the most important thing is that I bought it from ABQ Gold and Silver and Ed and his staff have an impeccable record of standing behind their products and their authenticity. I wear it on an Everest strap.

Yes. No matter how bad the day is, it will always put a smile on my day.

Could have done Two long vacations instead of buying my exp II; I think I chose wisely and would do it again.

If I was looking at the Explorer II, I would be buying a preowned 5 digit example. I much prefer that size.

If set on the current 6 digit version, I would still by a used one for the savings.

I was initially looking at the 16570. I was ready to purchase and saw the 216570 and tried that one on first. I was instantly hooked. When I tried on the 5 digit reference, it just didn't compare. I really liked the larger size of the 6 digit. It was slightly used, but was at a good price point. I pulled the trigger...and I'm ALL smiles now. Good luck!

I went used....very reputable grey. Great condition, full set and saved more than a thousand off of MSRP + tax. Very happy with the watch!

I approached an AD to ask for a polar but he only had black which I don’t like. Whilst I was there I put my name down for a ND Sub. I then bought a used polar from Watchfinder. A couple of months later I got a call to offer me the polar which I hadn’t requested. I had to refuse obviously but asked if I still had my name down for the sub. They said they would check and if they didn’t call me I would still be on the list. They didn’t call me then, and I haven’t heard from them since.
I am now thinking that because I refused the polar they have taken the hough.

I picked up a new 2019 Exp 2 Polar from an AD in early June and absolutely love it! The 1655 is my grail watch having been released on my birth year but is out of $$$ reach. Also once you move to the modern bracelets it’s so hard to go back - at least for me. Years ago I had used polar but couldn’t bond with it.

I honestly had no idea the sports market was so insane right now. The last time I walked into an AD was when I bought a new SS 116710LN in 2007 @ a 10% discount even. That was to replace my 1995 SS 16710. Anyway after 24 years of wearing black faced GMTs I was looking for a white Sky Dweller or an Exp 2. My AD delivered the Exp in two days.

The 3187 movement is the most accurate Rlx I’ve owned consistently running -0.4 sec per day. Thrilled with this purchase and I haven’t seen ANY in the wild. Meanwhile my LN is going in for service.

Good luck on your decision!
