yacht master II advice please!

I have a new 116680 YM 2. I really enjoy the watch! Rather than ‘parking’ the two regatta red hands at the 12 o’clock position I have taken to leaving the red second hand running always and parked the smaller minute indicator at the zero mark. I find this makes the watch more readable. Is this common practice? Is there a downside? Many thanks...

This is probably not common practice, but some people do it. My understanding is it does not harm the watch in any way. If anything, power-reserve may reduce a bit (more energy consumption) and regular wear and tear due to chrono running.

Enjoy!! It is an amazing watch ... which version do you have blue hands or mercedes hands?

Thanks for your comments. I have the Mercedes hands. I prefer it to the submariners I have which surprised me! I’m pleased they are not as popular as some others! I find the time easier to read with the red hand moving...

Thought this video might help you. It's Tim Mosso dropping his usual knowledge, and at 6:20 in, he states it is okay to leave it running without fear of damage or wear-and-tear.

Great watch, btw. Congrats!

Watch: What's on my wrist

It's and uncommon piece and likely the most expensive listed SS piece. This and its unusual nieche is likely the cause. Congratulations!! If my wrist was a bit bigger I would likely strive to achieve one. If the watch works for you the way you are running it than I'd just go with it.

Congrats I used to have one. Couldn’t believe how well it fit my wrist. The white dial and blue bezel really popped, sold it after 3 months though because I just couldn’t read the time at a quick glance. Still love the look of it though

Well I had seen the watch only in photos. I walked into AD and they showed it to me. Initially it seemed too big and I was used to my submariner. After I tried it on I realized I REALLY liked it, the look, the feel, the interest in the watch. I bought it there and then! Since then I have worn it as my favorite watch. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I’m grateful for this. I like being different to the pack!

I will post a photo when I figure out how!
Thanks

This is amazing! I've had this watch since 2016 and never knew you could keep it running like that. Thanks for the YouTube link!

That’s a great video, and yes it confirms it’s safe to run red regatta second hand permanently.
Thanks for that!
