Is there a bad DateJust combination?

I purchased my DJ41 two weeks ago and am loving it. My combination was jubilee bracelet, smooth bezel and rhodium sunburst dial and this is just stunning.

Yet when you look at all the threads that feature the DateJust I see a watch after watch looking pretty awesome in any configuration, whether it is on an Oyster or Jubilee, smooth or fluted, pick a colour for the dial they just all combine so well.

Is the DateJust the ultimate watch to customise or the most difficult as so many combinations work together to create a great looking watch that making your final choice is so hard.

This is my DJ, what are other peoples view on the DateJust.

I think the Datejust looks great in any combination, although there are combinations that I personally wouldn't buy. For example, I believe a non-professional Rolex model has to have a fluted bezel, although some may disagree.

One thing's for sure, the Datejust is the ultimate 'for life' watch!

I'd say most difficult due to all the combinations. I certainly like some combos better than others, but most look awesome!

BTW, your DJ looks great.

I like your combo Jubilee / smooth bezel - comfortable bracelet & straight forward bezel

I would go white dial for my collection

my only dislike is roman #'s but that's just me

I wasn't sure about the fluted bezel, it looked great but I wasn't sure if it was me, am I a person who would wear something that sparkled, I wasn't sure that I was so went smooth instead, but its all about choice and that is where the DJ is so awesome.

Thanks for the comment about my watch, greatly appreciated.

I started with the white dial on an Oyster but the starburst effect on the rhodium won me over, but I would happily have a white dial version as it is so cool.

Like you I am unsure about roman numerals, not a dislike quite just hesitant about the look on the dial.

First, congrats on your DJ!

Second, I would agree all the combinations are wonderful ... obviously, some combos appeal more to one person and other combos appeal to others. But it is the watch’s flexibility that is so pleasing.

I am sure the ability to “taylor” the watch dial/bezel/bracelet from so many options is why the Datejust (in all sizes) is Rolex’s most popular and best selling line.

It’s interesting that you posted this thread now as I literally received my new DJ41 3 days ago and I love it!

My first Rolex was a DJ36 I received from my parents as a HS graduation present in 1984. I wore it for 24 years...

And now this one for the next 24 years

Beautiful DJ's, that blue dial really pops.

Thanks for the compliment about my DJ, I hope to have it for the next 20+ years and then pass it on to my kids (or grandkids).

It’s such a versatile watch and all the various options just work so well that it’s hard to find any not to like. I mean there are some combos I like better than others but none I hate. The Rolex web site is a fun place to go “configure” a watch.
I got mine about 4 weeks ago and am loving it. Went with the blue starburst, white gold bezel.
Love yours enjoy it:

There was a floral pink or blue one a few years back. Though I know a guy who had one and he was so cool that you would think if he wants one he can have one.

Proving the point that there is no such thing as a badly configured DJ

Beginning to think that a collection of DJ's is something approaching nirvana

DJ41s are amazing!

Fluted, jubilee and black, blue, rhodium or white dial are the only combos I really like. Personally I would never wear a non-fluted DJ. They just look like they’re missing something. 36mm fluted / jub combo is also very nice, just too small for my wrist, unfortunately.

Yes the fluted bezel really adds a bit extra and maybe I will look at that for my next one but for now its jubilee, smooth and rhodium, and looking lovely.
