Bling ?

Perhaps. But this not so understated timepiece is just great. I acquired it about a year ago, (prior to that I swore I would never own one). When I first got it I was somewhat self conscious about wearing it. Screw that! Once you get past the bling factor it like any other Rolex is built like a tank. For it's size it has heft, you know it is on your wrist. It is powerful, masculine, yet classy with its white dial, and fluted bezel. I wear it in rotation, particularly in the warmer weather when most of my understated strap watches are relegated to times when I need to wear a suit, or await color temps. This watch goes with anything including suits too (but I pick and chose the right meeting for it).

I have been wearing her all week, and will do so today while I enjoy some nice grape with my children who are also doing the cooking on Fathers Day. A salute to all the Dads out there and those Dads who are no longer with us.

I was once in that honeymoon phase where I was self conscious about wearing the Rolex, but it goes away after time.
Enjoy my friend. It looks beautiful.
Happy Fathers Day!

Thanks!

Thanks All - for your replies and reading my post. It was a great day with my family. As far as the Rolex I am just amazed at the consistent quality while doing the volume they produce. I am a watch geek at heart. While I own quite a few "high horology" pieces before I owned Rolex, and love them just as much, pound for pound Rolex rocks.....

I have to tell you, these day-dates actually look classic to my eyes and not as blingy as their reputation. This is especially the case with the older ones where the gold takes on a matte quality. In some ways the day-date especially the classic ones at 36mm look more restrained next to a new BLRO with the jubilee, ceramic, and vivid color. They actually reflect more light and look more blingy to my eye than your piece.

Enjoy a classic.
